Mango Money Review

Master Card’s Mango money prepaid card is a great card with a money saving focus. A Mango Money savings account boasts high APY, as much as 6% which is, as they say, “45% higher than the industry average.” The best interest rates are reserved for those who set up direct deposit, if you don’t, you can still get a 2% APY which is still pretty high. If saving money is your goal this is a great card to consider.

There are no sign up fees, no customer support fees and no overdraft fees. There is a $3.00 monthly subscription fee but it can be waived if you have $500 deposit each month. There is a $1 fee when you check your balance at ATMs but it is free to look up online or on Mango’s handy mobile app. There is a $2 ATM withdrawal fee if you need cash off the card.

Verdict – Great

Mango is another great choice for prepaid debit cards, especially for saving money. It is also a great low fee option.

09/17/2015 - 3:01 pm no overdraft fees 3.00 fee monthly for the card & 2.00 fee to use the Atm

My card got hacked 16 times by camfrog chat recently but very lucky that each time was declined. Never heard of that place. One was not declined & that place was never heard of either "Living Waters International". It took 22 dollars from my acct. My card was cancelled & I received a new card. Then after I paid all my bills, three companies did not receive my payments because they said that Mangomoney not honoring it. Having a very hard two weeks figuring it out the problem! They say call the bank then the bank say call the merchant. Mangomoney said the routing & acct numbers are fine. Well, the three companies are still not receiving my payments after the third try. They're very important bills & it costs a fee when they don't receive my payment. I may have to cancel everything. I have been a customer of Mangomoney for several years with no problem. Very disappointed now.

09/09/2015 - 12:52 pm interest on the savings account worst customer service

I only got this card for the 6% interest rate it offered on the savings account. I had this account for about 3 months until they decided to switch from a mastercard to a visa. I got the email and read the new terms and conditions, "your routing and account number will remain the same. Your direct deposit will go directly to your new account" I figured I could pay my credit card using my mango routing and account number since it stayed the same, but no, mango did not honor my payment and there was plenty of money on my account. $25 fee for me. Then I tried to transfer some of my money to another bank account, something that I have done multiple times, not honored by mango either. I called and they said because of the switch from a mastercard to the visa, I will not be able to transfer money or pay my bills!!! the representative told me I get withdrawal money from the ATM and that I will get reimbursed. $2 fee from mango for using the ATM and $3 fee from the ATM itself, $5 fee per withdrawal for a total of $25 in fees. So I lost $45 total because of their transaction. I called their customer service and every person I talk to promises me my $45 refund, I talk to at least 7 people and they all promise me my refund back. Weeks go by and nothing. I asked to talk to a supervisor but no supervisor is ever available but he/she will call me later, no call.

I cancelled my accounts with them and still have not receive my refund or talk to a supervisor. Worst customer service ever!!!

On 5/31/15 My account somehow was compromised and Mango allowed over $1200 in fraudulent purchases of gift certificates to process at a local mall by someone using a cloned card. $300 Aldos $300 Victoria Secret $200 $Sunglasses Hut $200 Hollister $200 Express (ALL WITHIN 24hrs and with NO RED FLAG!!?? REALLY MANGO?) After filing a dispute with Mangos dispute dept M.Powerlink and waiting for an entire week with no funds, I recieved an email today that they've concluded that the charges were valid, would not be returning my $1200 and that I would need to contact each vendor where the purchases were made and resolve the issues myself.(WHAT BANK DOES THIS)??? My direct deposit also went into my account today also and before my new card they supposedly issued me made it to my mailbox THEY CLOSE MY ACCOUNT ON PAYDAY WITH AN ADDITIONAL $800 IN IT!!!! THATS $2000 IN 1 WEEK!!!Stay away from this Card if you dont want to lose your hard earned $$$!! I learned the hard way, DO NOT TRUST PREPAID CARD COMPANIES! SUPPOSEDLY THIS IS ONE IF THE BEST BUT LOOK WHAT THEY DID TO ME ( A LOYAL CUSTOMER FOR 3YRS)!! I've contacted my Lawyer and have filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and BBB. SHAME ON YOU ROY SOSA and BERTRAND SOSA! I worked for my money and will not give up until my $2000 is returned to me!!

04/01/2015 - 10:33 pm Free deposits $3 monthly charge

I have had a Mango prepaid card for about 6 months now and it is a very good card. It's great for everyone even if you have bad credit. You can make free deposits onto your card and your money is insured by the FDIC for up to $250,000, which gives great peace of mind. The only down side is the monthly charge of $3 and if you need to withdraw from an ATM it is $2, which is only a small amount but it can add up.

01/20/2015 - 2:39 pm Never go over your limit Fees

I didn't really want to get a credit card and I have never had one, so my partner recommended I try a prepaid card. It is a great alternative to a credit card and it is great as you know you can never go over your limit. One complaint is there are too many fees, the monthly fee and withdrawl fees etc. That said I would still choose prepaid over a normal credit card and these are a great option for people who don't have many options.
