Trusted by over 300 million users, Kaspersky Anti-Virus software does it all and has it all. This anti-virus software protects your computer against bots, worms, phishing, spyware, viruses, and more. They've even been certified by the ICSA, a certification held in very high esteem by antivirus software companies. Kaspersky consistently ranks highly among antivirus software, so let's take a look at some of its main features.
Kaspersky has done its homework when it comes to protecting the average PC from new emerging security threats. If you're looking to protect your computer, or even if you've already been infected, have no fear. Kaspersky has you covered on all sides, from what's already festering in your hard drive to phishing scams looking for your personal information. There is also a virtual keyboard gadget that you can use to enter credit card and other sensitive information without pressing a single key on your keyboard. Plus, this anti-Virus software comes with a desktop widget that you can use to notify you immediately of any threats and computer security status-this widget is completely optional if you don't like cluttering your screen, however.
As already mentioned, if your computer is already infected, you can still experience an easy installation due to Kaspersky's downloadable tool to scan your PC and remove any threats before using the program. Without a doubt, tested and rated by many labs, new threats are identified 100% of the time-nothing gets by Kaspersky, nothing. And just in case things go down in flames, such as your hard drive, you can create a bootable recovery disk with this software to keep you protected even when everything seems lost. You can even use this recovery disk to get around boot problems if the infection won't let you boot Windows. Kaspersky does this by using an alternate operating system to start your system running again. And if you are on your computer but a Trojan virus has blocked its functions, Kaspersky's Anti-Blocker feature helps to unblock your PC.
The System Watcher feature enables a roll back of your computer's changes so that it can be restored to a point before the harmful activity took place. Other features such as Secure Keyboard allow you to enter information using an on-screen keyboard instead of your physical keyboard. Many people don't realize that some malware records the keys you press and uses that to collect personal information to be used maliciously. This feature protects your personal data and keeps this malware from capturing your information. Kaspersky's software aims to protect your computer from all fronts and just in case a hacker gets past the first line of defense, the Secure Keyboard feature can add an additional layer of protection.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus software has an anti-phishing feature that will also alert you to websites in your browser or emails that may be trying to steal your personal financial information. With the constant barrage of fraudulent emails in your inbox that appear to be from your banking institution or processing companies like Mastercard or Paypal, this feature is quite valuable and Kaspersky delivers some of the best anti-phishing protection on the market. In user tests comparing the anti-virus software against the built-in security of common internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome), Kaspersky was found to be superior. In lab tests against competing antivirus software, it was found to have among the best performing anti-phishing feature in the industry, second only to Norton.
In addition to the regular desktop features of the software, cloud-based and remote capabilities make it easier to manage your account whether or not your computer is with you. When you register your software with the network, you can access and scan your system from anywhere in the world. You can do both quick scans and full scans and updates from anywhere, just as if you were sitting in front of your computer. If your computer is at the office and you're at home, or vice versa, the cloud-based and remote features of the software allow you to handle any potential security breach or schedule regular scans of your system without being physically present. More convenience and better accessibility make this a key feature and shows that Kaspersky is keeping up with the increased demand for cloud-based accessibility in every industry.
Because Windows updates and patches are always being developed to combat breaches and security holes, Kaspersky features a tool you can use to look for those missing security patches. It does not have the capability to automatically install those patches, but it does allow you to scan and determine if you are missing any uninstalled security patches. This is an added bonus to the regular features Kaspersky offers and shows that they are working hard on making sure all bases are covered when it comes to security on your PC.
Basic antivirus protection starts at around $40 for one license with which is comparable to competing packages of the same or lesser quality. For an even better deal, the three license package is about $60. (My Kaspersky, the cloud-based management feature, allows you to manage all three devices via the Web.)
Kaspersky Anti-virus software is an excellent product that delivers what it promises and provides great value. There aren't really any cons about it except its price and duration of scans. But these traits are to be expected and depend on your personal preference. Compared to software such as Bitdefender, Kaspersky is the pricier of the two, but it is worth every penny. Plus, the price is worth it because it comes with three licenses a.k.a. you can protect up to three different computers for the price of one.
Kaspersky consistently performed well in both independent and hands-on user lab tests and ranks among the top three companies for malware detection/blocking and phishing detection. It may fly under the radar and may not be well known as a name like Norton, but the world of computer security has found its king in the Kaspersky name.
