Is Mint Mobile phone service any good?

Just $20!

I spent just $20, and the service has exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend Mint Mobile if you want to save money.

Mint Mobile has terrible customer service

Over the last two weeks, I have talked to 7 customer service agents and wasted dozens of hours. DO NOT TRUST MINT MOBILE. I bought a phone from them over a year ago and used them as my service provider for that time. Two weeks ago, I called them to unlock my phone so I could go to a different carrier, my phone is fully paid off and I have met their contract obligations. I was on the phone with them for two hours and they assured me the phone would be unlocked over the next 24-72 hours. It never got unlocked. I called them again and they apologized because apparently there was an error where the ticket got closed and the unlock request never went through. They sent another request and I waited another 72 hours. THE PHONE STILL WASN’T UNLOCKED. I talked with 3 more customer service agents, and they all assured me that it was unlocked; however, when they checked it was not. They said they would check with the “Back office” and escalate the claim; however, none of them called me back and the phone still remained locked. At this point, I was furious with them and asked to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor they connected me with was Will, his ID: 6914297 and he assured me that he would unlock the phone and call me back the same day after it was fixed. HE NEVER CALLED. I then spoke with another supervisor Regina, her ID: 4223649 and she apologized for the other agents and assured me that they had an “engineer” working on it and that she would follow up the next day and the engineer would call once it was fixed. It has been over a week and NEITHER HAS CALLED. My fully paid-off phone is still locked and I cannot switch carriers without spending $900 on a new phone. Mint Mobile has lied multiple times about calling back and fixing the problem. I do not recommend them to anyone. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

Really happy

Transitioning from another cheap carrier to Mint has genuinely improved my mobile experience. Not only is the customer service quick and welcoming, but the activation process was also straightforward. The bundle pricing is a big win, and they've certainly earned my loyalty for the long haul.

BEWARE of Mint Mobile. You only have 7 days to get

I’m writing this review of Mint Mobile for all who are thinking about using their service. This is my experience! I discovered that there were two red flags that should have caused me to pause, before going with Mint Mobile. The first red flag was, having to purchase a 3-month plan up front. The second red flag was only having 7 days in which to cancel the plan. I think most people will agree that 7 days is not a sufficient amount of time to check out a new service. Especially when you call Mint Mobile with a problem, they will want you to try this and try that, before you know it seven days have passed. You just lost your three months payment. They will not refund even a portion of your payment, even if you have poor service in your area. I have the emails to prove it!! My suggestion to anyone who wants to try Mint Mobile is that if your first use doesn’t work 100%, CANCEL IMMEDIATELY, else you will probably lose you full payment!!!!

Downhill service

Customer service can't spell correctly while chatting, they take long to respond and on top of that, Mint mobile ended my account 3 days before it was suppose to end. Then I couldn't change from 6 months to 3 months, was told to cancel and close my account and then sign up again, what kind of nonsense is that? Price increase as well, I was charged $133.75 for 6 months. Looking for another phone service when this is up. I couldn't even log in to my account on my phone or my computer, it was not even working, it was done by them on purpose. They get paid ahead of time so they don't care about the service, out of 4G, I always have 3.2G left, (I'm not a phone zombie), and to cut me off days before my service was up, and with 3.4G of unused data is unacceptable. I don't even get good service 100% of the time.

Going downhill fast

Customer service can't even explain things correctly or spell proper, service was cut off days before my account expired and then I couldn't log in from my phone or computer, wanted to change from 6 month plan to 3 month and they couldn't do it, they said I had to close my account and then sign up again. Last month I was left 0 data, and I usually have 3.2G left from the 4G I get. Looking for something else, they get their money paid so service is crap. Not worth the hassle anymore or the $133.75.

Mint Moble false advertise!

I bought a new phone from Mint Mobile using the plan advertised & paid for six months + six months free per their add. However when I put the SIM card in to get a new phone number they took away the free six months & said I had to transfer the number from another phone service which is nowhere in the add agreement! They can't be trusted in my opinion. Better buy elsewhere!!!

They absolutely refused to help me!

The service was comparable to verizon but at $30/mo instead $100. I lost my phone and required the assistance of customer service and now know why it is less expensive. I cannot use the replacement phone without a replacement SIM card. They refuse to replace it and I cannot conduct business or contact anyone without a SIM card. They absolutely refuse to assist me!

Can't beat Mint

Customer service is always helpful. Cheap too.

Be careful with roaming internationally

Mint's really great as a low-cost carrier. While I love the service in general, their international roaming fees are quite expensive. Sometimes I have to go out of the country for work, costing me over $100 for the month. Their prices are really good other than that.

The best cheap carrier

I switched to Mint when they started to support 5G. It's not as fast as T-Mobile but it's still really good for what you're paying for.

Mom's happy with the service

I got this for my mom who wanted a simple phone, nothing fancy. Set up took a little bit longer than I imagined but after we figured it out my mom has been happy with the service. It's not as good as the national carriers but for the value it's really good.

Service is worth it

I don't have to worry about being on a phone contract. My phone bill used to be 150 because I was paying for two smartphones and two phone lines. When I saw commercials about Mint Mobile I paid the remaining bill of the phones so I could leave. Sometimes my coverage is a little spotty, but despite that I'm very happy with the service.

Very affordable

Service is stable around the clock. Have no complaints.

You'll love it if you're not in a small town

I dumped Verizon after I was charged well over a hundred for my service. I didn't need all that unlimited data so I did some research on the smaller services. The most popular service seems to be Mint, so I switched to that one. So far it's been very good. The prices are much lower than what Verizon charges but you get T-Mobile cell phone service. If you live in a small town I wouldn't recommend it but if you live in a big city you'll love it.

Reliable company

I bought this for my son who moved to New Jersey a couple months ago. He's really happy with the service. We've been able to talk without any dropped calls or a bad signal.

No signal, incompetent support

I really happy at the start of using Mint Mobile. Service was smooth, customer service were nice when they helped me set up my phone. Well, a few days ago I lost service. I don't know what happened but when I got a hold of a rep and tried to get help about my problem they couldn't help. To put it bluntly, they were incompetent. They said they would escalate my issue and that they would contact me, but they never did. It's sad to see Mint go downhill.

Excellent

I'm a new customer and I started today after being with T-Mobile for over 8 years. I had to leave in the end because it was one lie after another and so many promised callbacks that never came. Apart from a problem activating the SIM card everything else has been very quick and it's been a beautiful transition. Mints customer service has been very helpful.

A great value for the money

It took me awhile to get on board with cheaper carriers. When I thought cheap, I thought it would be pretty bad. When the pandemic hit and I was laid off for a few months, I decided to drop AT&T and move to Mint Mobile. I wish I did this sooner! It's not as good as AT&T but I don't mind since it works. No problems with service and the 5G speeds are pretty nice.

A price that can't be beat!

Way better than Cricket wireless. Cheaper, more reliable, and it's easier to activate. Would recommend if you're thinking about switching.
