Is Mint Mobile phone service any good?
Some Pros and Cons
Pros: Inexpensive. Unlimited talk and text. Easy to move phone over. Call quality's good. Cons: Data can be slow, but it's par for the course. Overall, too good to be true but is true.
NIGHTMARE: Stay away from
They gave me a phone that would not connect to their network. After talking with people who barely spoke English, I was given the runaround and filled out the same menus on my phone. Eventually one of the foreigners I talked to said I needed a new SIM card. They never bothered to tell me that I would be paying for it, so I installed a second SIM card, and the phone still wouldn't connect to their network. Now I wanted a full refund. So-and-so from India gave me a number and said it would be… processed. When I called back the next day, there was supposedly no refund processed and I had to fill out a form online. I filled out the form, and they eventually told me I had requested a replacement phone, instead of a refund, even though I made clear countless times on the phone, in e-mails, and on their forms I wanted my money back. They're blaming the victim here, saying I have a perfectly good phone, which they're returning to me against my objections, and that I simply "put the SIM card in wrong." I happen to have an advanced degree and am no fool. The phone makes clear when it detects the card and when it's missing. I filed a complaint with the BBB, the federal government, and have my credit card company disputing their charges. I paid upfront for a phone and the service for a year ($500) and have nothing to show for it. Ryan Reynolds charisma does not make up for the fact this is an unethical company with argumentative customer reps, and a broken set-up, where the hand doesn't know what the foot is doing, to the point that anyone feels insane after dealing with them for a few days, and they blame the customer when their phones don't connect to their network.
Great way to try before you buy
The introduction charges are fantastic! They give me 3 months of service that I don't even have to worry about paying monthly for. Don't need to keep track when you buy in bulk!
Cheap price, good service!
The $15 intro price is a "gateway" price. I've been impressed since day 1 and now I'm happy enough to stay with the service.
Switching's easy!
Process is painless! Would recommend.
Don't go to Verizon!!!
Mint's a great replacement as a prepaid service. No wonder it's a leader in the prepaid mobile industry!
Not reliable
Loved them at first. Had no issues. Over past 2 weeks have lost service completely on three different days. I lost total service this afternoon around 3:30pm and we're still out. It's 10:20pm now. Online chat closed and can't call customer service because I don't have phone service
Bad customer service
Have trouble getting service where I live. It's out in the sticks so I should have expcted that. Customer service hasn't been reliable. For instance
Love Mint!
Mint's made me one happy customer! The fox is really adorable (their marketing with Ryan Reynold's 100% sold me
A steal
Good deal for good coverage.
Saves me so much!
I know I sound crazy when I say you're paying more in 1 monthly bill from Verizon when you could be paying that same amount for 3 months! This is after the intro period too!
Great for retirees
I retired a few years ago so I'm on a fixed income. My daughter recommended me Mint when I told her about how much I was paying Verizon. Let me tell you: Verizon is a scam. I didn't know that phone plans could be cheap like Mint. I'm so glad I'm able to save a bit more (a big deal on a fixed income).
Minty fresh!
It's a fresh breath of air to swap from paying a little over $120 to paying $25 bucks a month. Great service too! You really won't notice a difference!
Only have had this for 3 weeks...
But I'm loving it so far. Data needs have changed since pandemic (WFH) so I'm saving more by using this service. So much cheaper than what I've been paying for at T-Mobile.
Stickershocked after 3 months but good
It's a great deal, especially in the first 3 months. Be careful when it renews though! You'll be charged a bit more after! I got the 3 months and when it autorenewed I got charged $25 instead of $15 for each month. I decided to stay with them since they treated me so well.
You get what they say you get
My phone bill's been so much lower since using Mint Mobile. I've paid less in one year than in one month - what I used to pay for when I used at&t. 4gb is more than enough data for me too. Setup is very quick and easy to do. My one gripe is reception in rural areas. It's not the best.
I love Mint Mobile!
Very easy to install and easier to use its service! Thanks for what you do, Mint!
Stop giving the big companies your money!
Really, you're wasting a lot of money on their services when you could instead be using that money for other important things. I've saved so much since switching, so give it a shot! There's no risk in trying anyway!
Don't even think about it. Just switch over.
I thought that because small carriers like Mint Mobile are so much cheaper that they would be terrible compared to companies like Verizon. Well I'm happily proven wrong.
Good service that's light on the pocket
Great price! Tried it as I wasn't sure what to expect. Very easy to use. Honestly I can't tell the difference between my old AT&T service and Mint Mobile. Highly recommended
