Is Spectrum Mobile phone service any good?

3 weeks later and still not activated!

I tried to have my spectrum landline ported to spectrum mobile, 3 wks later and 6+ wasted hours being transferred from rep to rep they said it looks like again they will need to escalate my problem to a top tier to see why it's still not working and could take a few more wks, I said no thanks not waiting any longer, the gy said sorry the Spectrum mobile was actually launched too early and didn't have all the bugs worked out and they've been having a lot of problems with activations. I ended up going with another carrier and was up and running almost immediately.

Awesome service

I would like to say that I am a new customer and in North Lakeland , Store #7063 Inwas assisted by a Sales Specialist by the name of “RYAN” and he just made my experience the best ever when joining a new provider. He was always smiling and made me feel at home. He was fast , Professional, and had an Outstanding personality . I hope a Manager or Spectrum let’s him know this as he definitely deserves recognition. Treat customers the right way is so important . Thank you Ryan 👍💯

Told NO on a payment extension

we have had spectrum for years now and never missed a payment. Due to life happening we needed 6 more days to pay the bill, and we're told NO because "our financial issue was not their fault". Dang. It was only 6 DAYS. This is crazy!! Paying our phones off and going elsewhere.

Spectrum mobile is the worst company.

Spectrum mobile customer service do not help their customer, Their only concern is the money.

Bad business

The service was great the first year. Once my contract was up I paid 2x more for Internet. My bill was increased but the service is so much more worse. I hate spectrum.

They told me, I had to buy their phones

To get the unlimited deal I had to buy THEIR phones. I had a moto 6, and I had bought my Grandaughter a new phone...but they weren't able to activate the deal on MY phones, I had to buy Theirs. Same Moto 6 phone as mine, had to buy theirs. Not sure what my phone didn't have as I had Verizon unlimited on theirs. Such a rip off!!!!s Liars all of them.

Not sure why so many had trouble with activation.

I brought two iPhones over from Verizon. Only thing that annoyed me was needing a different device to activate the first and second. Other than that it was pretty simple. They sent 2 SIM cards via fedex. I ported both numbers and was activated in minutes. My signal has been normal and call quality the same as before. I’ll take the cheap bill over Verizon’s overpriced data.

Impossible to get anything done

I am a relatively happy Spectrum Internet, TV (and reluctantly) home phone user. I opted to switch to Spectrum when my current carrier hounded me for 60 days and continuously cut off the ability to call or re-routed my calls to their customer service to talk to me about buying a new phone. I ordered new service and a new phone from Spectrum and spent 30 mins on the call giving them my info, and was told my phone would be expedited and should receive in 3-4 days. After 7 days I received an email requiring a photo of my DL, which I provided, but my order was cancelled that afternoon. I called and placed the order again, but this time was watching for follow on emails - I provided my DL again. 3 days later I had yet to receive a shipping notice, so I called for a status, only to be told it was "being processed". That explained why the phone was not yet delivered. I cancelled my order and am going to another provider - this is RIDICULOUS!

WARNING WATCH YOUR BILLS-WHAT A RIP OFF

So my mom just passed away and I finally got the death certificate which is required by Spectrum to cancel a policy. My mom had the account under her name and she had 2 lines. 1 for herself (Linda V) and one for my uncle(Dennis). I went to 2 different locations and spent a total of 8 hrs or more on the phone with Spectrum. Both stores and my mom's account online showed that both devices were PAID IN FULL(see photos). Also online her mobile total so far on March 13th $38.00 (see photos). At the store they call the number listed online that I sat on hold for 6hrs the first time. The manager Julie at the Saginaw Michigan store pulls up the file and said yep both devices are paid for. Gets a lady on the phone to close out my mom's account and she says yes both devices are paid for. Closes out account and said the balance is $38.00. I should of just Paid it over the phone then but I had cash. Julie the manager said you can pay it here. So, I hang up the phone. I go to give her the money and then she doesn't have a money drawer. Well, that's fine I'll just pay with a card. She tells me to do it on the app. So, I logged on. As I log on it goes from $38.00 to $291.46. Listing that $145.73 for each device was due. Julie seen this happen as I was on the app. She calls them back but doesn't really tell them what she saw. She just hands the phone to me. So, as I'm on there phone my husband starts to take screenshots of my mom's account. He didn't get it showing the $291.46 in time but as he goes to take picture then it drops to just on device $145.73 & also where it goes from $38 due to $99.99 due. Needless to say I made a very clear to the man on the phone and Julie in front of me that they wouldn't be getting that money & they could stick the devices where the sun don't shine. I told the lady I was trying to do what's right and pay my mom's bill and close the account. I will be returning all my Spectrum Internet & cancel my TV with them! I can't believe For Christ's sakes I just lost my mom. Quit trying to screw your customers. Even when I was on the phone to cancel the mobile service the lady trying to sell me something! I tell her don't waste your breath I DO NOT WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH SPECTRUM! Well, you can save money. Lady I would rather pay DOUBLE then to buy ANYTHING from SPECTRUM! Even when I told the guy I had screenshots showing my mom's devices paid in full. They would give me a number or email to send them to. Even the Manager Julie at the Saginaw Store saw the screenshots and wouldn't do a dam thing about! Hope I can Attach Pictures

Watch Your Bill Every Time You Activate New Phone

I decided to go with the 1 gb per month since I'm mostly home or a family members house with wi-fi. The first phone bill month, I went over by .17 gb so was charged $14 additional for that month. On February 16th, 2022, I upgraded to another new phone and on that day I received an e-mail that I had gone over by almost 2 gb. In 33 months, I have never gone over my 1 gb. When I was at the Trussville, Alabama store getting my services transferred, the lady was having problems setting my phone up. It's funny, that's the day I went over by almost 2 gb. I called Spectrum and was told it was taken care of. After looking at my bill, I was only given 1 gb credit so I called the next day and was told that they are only allowed to give a 1 gb credit and they said I should consider changing my plan to unlimited. No I shouldn't, I've never gone over the 1 gb until I get a new phone. Why would I pay for services I don't need? Other than this overcharge, I have never had any problems with their mobile service. Just BILLING problems.

Don't exchange your phone.

Got a new Galaxy had 14 days to exchange it so I exchanged for an IPhone they said my Galaxy had a hair line scratch on front graded my phone a C and TOOK $350 out of my bank with no notification what so ever. They should have given me an opportunity to purchase the phone but they never told me anything. Wouldn't even tell me how they did their grading so I could dispute it.

It is very cheap. As the old saying goes.

Horrible customer service. Horrible service. My phone continues to go out.

Rip Off

I paid my iPhone Off , then they tell me today I still Owe , my device says my phone paid in full ! And added charges that have already been Paid in full !

7 days to activate the two lines

Customer service the worst of any company I've dealt with, 7 days to port the phone lines, screwed up bill of the $ for phones, bait and switch of the trade in of phones.

BUYER BEWARE - BAIT AND SWITCH

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! I bought into a Spectrum Mobile plan and iphone. After 4 hours at Spectrum store over 2 days, it was determined that phone could not be activated because their new 2.0 program was not up and running. Agreed I could return phone for full credit and not have to pay restocking fee because it was out of my control. Took 2 days to get Fed Ex return label and sent phone back. Just learned this afternoon that I could not get full credit on phone because it supposedly had 'damage'! On a scale of A -D, it was a C which translated to $315 that I owed for the suspicious 'damage"! I talked to Ms Leadership and told her that phone was brand new and was only handled by the store clerk who tried in vain to activate it1 She said that I would need PROOF, such as a picture, of the condition the phone was in when I returned it....WHO would ever think to take a picture of a NEW phone that you are sending back??? especially when you are dealing with a supposedly reputable company??? I suspect if I had such a picture, she would have had an excuse as to why she could not accept it. Anyway, without that documentation, she could not help. I told her if there was damage it was done by whoever opened the box when it was received at the warehouse and I have requested PICTURES of the supposed damage. Moral of this review is for any potential BUYER to BEWARE of the BAIT and SWITCH tactics of Spectrum Mobile. They BAIT you into a plan fully knowing that their 2.0 program is not working, then after you have to cancel through no fault of yours, they SWITCH to extorting money from you to cover their losses for 'damage' you are ASSUMED to have caused, thereby making money on their inability or unwillingness to provide the service you bought in the first place. Not a bad deal for them...not bad at all. In response and in order to preserve my excellent credit rating, I will pay the $315 in protest, I have cancelled two different Spectrum cable accounts ($170 per month which will pay for the extorted monies in 2 months' time), I will work to inform the public about the unfair, arbitrary, capricious, and extortionist tactics of Spectrum Mobile, and I will seek the help of the media. I suspect I am not alone and encourage anyone else who has been through a similar experience with Spectrum Mobile to speak out! OH, and if you decide this review and others like it are not persuasive, I would suggest you NOT enter into any agreement with Spectrum Mobile or its affiliates without FIRST reviewing the agreement and reading the disclaimers very carefully. Of course, that information is sent to you in an email and runs 6 or 7 pages of very fine print. You will thank me for the heads up!

Lots of dropped calls & many people cannot hear me

Dropped calls & I cannot be heard! What else can be said? If they are using Verizon towers, why is the service so poor?

Terrible service

I tried to set up a cell phone for my mother and still could not get it to work. I spent 4 hrs on a phone with 5 different service people with all having different how to ideas. They said it was easy. In the end I was told to call Samsung.

worst experience I ever encountered.

My cellphone broke. Went to Apple to buy a new phone and spectrum won't activate new phone. was told by customer service to go to store to get new sim card which was not accurate. in order to use my phone line I have to wait 2w-5 business days for them to ship new simcsrd. thank god I don't have a contract moving may line first thing in tjhe morning.
