Is Tracfone phone service any good?

The worst company Ive ever had to deal with

customer service wasted 2 hours of my time doing NOTHIng for me..the company put my minutes on the wrong phone then refused to give them back. wasting 2 hours of my life and trying to force another card on me.

Tracfone - Brick your phone.

Tracfone upgraded their network and bricked my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone. So I bought a Samsung Galaxy S9 phone that is voLTE compatible, running Android 10. I took the sim card out of my bricked s7 and put the sim card in my s9 and got excellent LTE HD voice, text, and data, all from Tracfone Wireless. But then the problems started. When I contacted an agent on the Customer chat line to transfer my service plan from the s7 to the s9 Tracfone Wireless refused, claiming that the s9 was incompatible with the "upgraded" ATT tower I was connected to. Funny, the s9 is GSM unlocked, and was already working with this "upgraded" ATT tower. Tracfone Wireless claimed that ATT had blocked my IMEI number, which is a lie. So, essentially, Tracfone will not allow me access to my service account, which I have already paid for. This is obvious fraud and theft. I even purchased a new LTE ATT compatible Tracfone sim card. But Tracfone still will not transfer my service to the s9. I have a huge amount of roll over call minutes, texts, and data. All of which will expire on June 1, 2022. But locked of my service account and blocked from buying any additional minutes, this roll over service will vanish into thin air. Tracfone Wireless has devolved into an unscrupulous company intent on cheating customers out of money by denying them access to their service accounts by bricking their phones and by refusing to transfer service to phones that meet the carrier upgrade. Tracfone Wireless competitors must be jumping for joy at all of the disgruntled Tracphone Wireless customers who are fleeing in droves. Take my advice, avoid Tracfone Wireless like the plague, unless you enjoy paying money for no service, and dealing with a incompetent customer service team. I have learned my lesson, I will take my voLTE capable phone and by business to another carrier effective June 1, 2022. Goodbye Tracfone Wireless, and good riddance.

Hard to secure

Bought Samsung A32, 6 months ago. I've had 2 viruses, one I could disable, then my text messages got hacked. Can't get it off. I've paid the phone off and now will put it in my useless chunk draw.

terrible compony

customer service is anything but that, you can't understand what they say you buy new phone they try to replace with recondition one ,not iven same brand ,good luck to try to get a refund

Poor customer service

To talk to customer service be ready to wait half the afternoon on hold. Then they are of no help. My phone wont receive calls or call out .They don't know why. Time to change service providers I wd not recommend

GO ELSEWHERE!

Cell phone company from HELL! Borderline threatening contacts from Tracfone informing me I must upgrade. I called them to upgrade. I had just refilled and had 120 minutes on my phone. I must pay to call their service line. $0.18 a minute last time I checked. I placed about six calls trying to upgrade my service. Some dropped. One woman hung up on me. Lots of lost time "verifying" my account which had to be done all six calls. No one could help me. Last call, she tells me they're out of free phones. I should call back tomorrow. About six calls and NOTHING was accomplished. I started out with 120 minutes on my phone. I ended up with 28 minutes. Nothing done. 92 minutes of aggravation. $16.52 LOST MONEY. Nothing accomplished. Criminal. I fell SCAMMED. Dirtbags laughing all the way to the bank! Give some company that cares your hard earned money.

Worst customer service! Now I have 2 broken phones

I maintain two separate Tracfones, one for my mother who is 92 and one for my brother who has had a stroke. I needed to get a new cell phone for my mother as she could not hear the ringer and it was not compatible with her hearing aids. I contacted Tracfone to find out what kind of device I could get. They did not sell one with the loud ringer or that was compatible with hearing aids. They did tell me what kind I would need to buy and I found a supposedly Tracfone compliant phone on Amazon. Went to transfer service to the new phone and after six hours, five agents, escalated to a nonworking phone number I had a phone that did not work. I tried to reactivate the original phone, it says it’s activated but it also does not work. After four hours of customer service it reached their 11 PM end of support hours and they just abruptly hung up on me after telling me to call back in the morning to a toll-free number they provided. I called back to the number and it simply disconnected me repeatedly. I had to start another new service request to figure out what to do and it was another 2 hours of useless customer service support. I’ve lost six hours of my life life, was treated like crap and have two phones which don’t work. I have bought a years Worth of phone and data services and most of the time is still left on the plan. But it’ll be worth it to throw it away if I can find a service that will provide what I need. If you need a basic phone, have no special needs and never need to contact their customer support department Tracfone actually is not a bad choice. My brother’s phone has been working fine, although I do need to get him a new one. I’ll probably switch him to whatever I find for my mother. The thought of having to try and port another number over to a different phone gives me nightmares.

TracFone Customer Service SUCKS!!!

I was told that I needed to upgrade my phone and I can keep my number...NOT!! The agents have you on hold for 30 minutes or longer. I had to ask one agent if he was home because I can hear the... He asked me to hold on, he got back on the phone and asked me if that was better? But not only that... He asked me if I would do a survey after our call 🤦🏼‍♀️ They also did 2 transactions from my credit cards and I still don't have any service on my phone. Now I'm trying to talk to a supervisor because I gave my information to a complete Stranger who keeps telling me that my card was declined but I received alerts when I do a transaction and so when I asked to speak to a supervisor.. I would be put on hold for another hour or until a commercial come on 🤷🏼‍♂️

Worst customer service EVER!!

Service was disconnected because of 3G tower elimination. Never was warned it would be shut off earlier than the date they claimed. Been trying for 7 days to get anyone who knows a damn thing about the free replacement phone they keep promising but it's a big lie. They claim free phone is "out of stock" but when I pretended to buy the same phone is was magically available. How any company can get away with ripping so many people off is infuriating to me.

Send a letter saying my phone will no longer work

Went online told me that my phone was free along with the letter that I received could not get it to go through told me to call this 800 number after 30 minutes I ended up paying for the phone anyway because they lied to me about 15 different times and I got frustrated and just paid the $15 for a phone. This was for my mom if it was for me I would’ve just thrown it away poor poor customer service

Old flip phone worked better

Samsung - 1 year old - access to Google died last week Other than phone nothing else works Keeps telling me to "try again" but I only receive more "try again" I can make calls which I guess that's what phone is for!

technical support is terrible.

I cannot get ring time extended before call goes to voice mail, so I have to call everyone back.

Horrible technical support

First off, the only reason that I give them two stars is because the cellular network is pretty reliable ( which their tech support zombies tell me is actually Verizon). So I purchased a TracFone for my mother who is in a nursing home. Due to Covid issues and constant moving around of rooms, a landline no longer was an option. The first phone worked ok for a few months but then we started getting a lot of dropped calls and poor call quality. I attributed this to an issue with the actual phone , so I replaced it with a better model. That one has worked ok for several months, but the big problems started two weeks ago. The phone just stopped receiving or making calls one day. I contacted the support line and got the same run around that many of the reviewers have experienced. They essentially would not even talk to me unless I had the phone in my hand. So I drove to the nursing home and spent over three hours on the phone with four different agents ( call was disconnected several times while they were transferring me to another department, so the process started all over again with another agent, since they won't give you a direct call back number or call reference number). They had me run an update on the phone and said that they would call back in two hours. I took the phone home with me and waited for the call back. To their credit, they did call back when they said they would, but agent #5 basically started reading their script all over from page #1. I had to get a little rude with them and tell them that I'm not doing this again and that I need to speak to their highest level of support, as it was obvious at this point that it was a TracFone issue and not an issue with the phone. Finally got to speak to the highest level support person and he figured out the problem in 30 minutes or so. He said that the issue was on their end and that the phone should work now, which it did (after 6 hours on the phone total). I asked him if he could tell me what the problem was in case it happened again, but he wouldn't say. He said that it won't happen again. Guess what, it happened two weeks later and I had to go through the whole process again today, and of course they can't assist me if I don't have the phone in hand, so it's still not working and it's after 10pm. On top of everything else, the support agents all have significant language barrier issues. I had to ask them to repeat themselves many times, and God forbid that I asked a question that wasn't on their script. It's been a horrible experience this last couple weeks and I will be changing providers.

good prices if you dont use lots of mins text or data ,, trying to do anything other than adding more balance can be bit of hassle

unlocking process is horrible it will say your device is unlocked on their end , yet you still wont be able to use a different sim card. they will keep " escalating the issue " meaning a circle of agents that say the same stuff over and over. if you want an unlocked device avoid tracfone at all costs. very disappointed.

No customer service.

3 hours to trouble shoot a phone, and still no resolution. Way past bedtime and i'm ready to cry.

Horrible service!

No wifi due 2 updating! No partial credit or refund. Custom service is horrible, can’t speak English! Just all the way around terrible

I have spent about 10 hours trying to fix my phone

I have talked to several people today and no one has helped me. Many times, I was being transferred to a supervisor and was disconnected after an hour.

canceled but get no refund

I ordered a $15 plan but cannot activate it, so I canceled it. More than one month passed I haven't got refund. I contacted Tracfone service, they just kicked me to the refund department, but no response since then.
