Verizon has both domestic and international phone plans available for you.
Domestic plans are as follows:
This plan combines unlimited local and regional toll, nationwide long distance calling, and up to five of the most popular calling features.
Unlimited Local and Toll Calling Plans
These provide you with unlimited calling plans that you can add to your standalone phone line. However, pricing and plans for an unlimited phone line tend to vary by state.
The Verizon network also features FiOS Digital Voice, which has the crystal-clear voice quality of a fiber-optic network and 99.9 percent network reliability for a connection that cannot even be disrupted by most weather. Furthermore, you'll also gain more flexibility with FiOS Digital Voice. You can listen to your voicemail online or through your TV and schedule calls to be forwarded to wherever you are. You can check out similar online services in our buyer's guide to VoIP services.
However, you must have FiOS Internet service and/or TV to be eligible for this service. If you are eligible, then you should be aware of the two types of FiOS Digital Voice domestic plans: unlimited and per minute.
Wireless Home Phone Unit
Additionally, the Verizon network offers the Verizon Wireless Home Phone unit, which is a portable, low-cost alternative to the traditional landline phone service. With it, you're able to bring your home phone number to Verizon or own a new one. No broadband or internet service is required either, and it is compatible with both corded and cordless phones.
As the cherry on top, the wireless home phone can be used during power outages, thanks to the built-in battery backup. You can always purchase the wireless home phone unit at full price or you can save money by opting into a two-year contract.
Wireless home phone offers the following calling features: Voice Mail, Call Forwarding, Call Waiting, Three-Way Calling, and Caller ID. The product is also is compatible with international calling thanks to an added International Long Distance feature. Wireless home phone also supports international calling card.
Broadband Router with Voice
Finally, you can always take advantage of the Verizon 4G LTE Broadband Router with Voice. This allows you to connect both ethernet and Wi-Fi-enabled devices to the 4G LTE network, as well as connect your home phone to the LTE network in order to make phone calls. This can be done simultaneously, by the way.
With the Broadband Router with Voice, you'll receive access to local, long distance calling, call forwarding, call waiting, three-way calling, TTY-TTD, voice mail, and 911.
Furthermore, the Broadband Router allows you to explore download speeds of between five and 12 Mbps and upload speeds of between two and five Mbps. If you have any questions, you can find customer service options on the Verizon support page or call 1-800-837-4966.
Verizon Wireless Cell Phone Plans
If you're interested in a Verizon wireless plan or family plan, you can check out our informative guide on Verizon cell phone plans. Verizon now offers unlimited talk, text and data plans that'll cost you just $45 per line if you have four lines on a family plan. Just watch out for extra fees.
Landline Phone Service Features
Verizon's home phone service comes with some nifty features, including:

- The ability to prevent your name and phone number from displaying on caller IDs
- Voice Mail
- The ability to send incoming calls to another telephone
- Call Waiting
- Three Way Calling
- Privacy with the phone directory
- Some work during power outages
Finally, you can always purchase inside wire maintenance, which covers the diagnosis and repair of the inside wiring.
Verizon has three international calling plans that allow you to stay in touch with friends and family across the globe, which is considerably more affordable than AT&T's home phone plans, depending on what you select.
Furthermore, you can save money if you have a freedom plan.
The three plans available are:
City Rates Plan
This plan is purchased at a monthly fee. However, international calls are billed at low per-minute rates.
World Plan 300
This plan includes up to 300 minutes of international calling when contacting anyone in 119 countries and destinations (98 countries for calls to cell phones).
World Plan 500
If you need more minutes, you can always select the World Plan 500, which grants you with up to 500 minutes of international calling to 119 countries and destinations (98 countries for calls to mobile phones).
There are three international calling plans that fall under FiOS Digital Voice as well.
International Per Minute
International calls are billed at low per-minute rates and come included with FiOS Digital Voice plans
World Plan 300
This includes up to 300 minutes of international calling at reduced rates when contacting anyone in 119 countries and destinations (98 countries for calls to mobile devices).
World Plan 500
This plan includes up to - you guessed it - 500 minutes of international calling at reduced rates at contacting anyone residing in the listed 119 countries and destinations (98 countries for calls to mobile phones).
Phone and Internet Bundles
Verizon offers the ability to build your own bundle. Unfortunately, it's dependent on where you live. However, with bundling, you may be limited to FiOS Digital Voice, FiOS TV, and FiOS Internet's fiber-optic network.
That being said, you can select two of the three. You do not need FiOS TV, for instance, to obtain bundling prices, but in a lot of cases, you'll save more by including FiOS TV and be able to adopt faster FiOS internet. Furthermore, if you order the bundle online, Verizon will waive the setup charge.
Depending on your location, you can also opt for high-speed internet and regional calling.
Verizon offers a set of internet and phone bundles. Depending on where you live, you'll be given a set of options. For myself, there are three options available, all under FiOS.
Deals and Packages
In my case and many others, FiOS internet within the bundles may range from 50/50 Mbps to 150/150 Mbps.
These bundles include a home phone service, complete with unlimited calling across the U.S. and to Canada and Puerto Rico. Furthermore, there is no annual contract required with these bundles.
If the high-speed internet is available in your area, you can opt for either high-speed internet or high-speed internet enhanced in your bundle. These particular bundles include either regional calling or unlimited calling with either Verizon Regional Essentials or Verizon Freedom Essentials. These bundles include a monthly discount too.
Verizon offers several deals in the form of FiOS Double or Triple Play packages. Unfortunately, the FiOS Double Play packages only contain internet and TV.
However, the FiOS Triple Play package, which features internet, TV, and phone, contains an online exclusive offer of a waived setup fee and monthly savings with a two-year agreement.
You can choose between these three packages:
- 150/150 Mbps Internet + Custom TV + Phone
- 150/150 Mbps Internet + Preferred HD TV + Phone
- 150/150 Mbps Internet + Ultimate HD TV + Phone
Sometimes the offers come with a $150 Visa Prepaid Card or exclusive channels such as HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz, and Epix. Perhaps you can nab both exclusive channels and the prepaid card. You can also compare cable tv providers in your area here if you're interested.
