Having found a cheaper package elsewhere, I made the mistake of moving from Directv. Within a couple of weeks I called Directv and got a fantastic deal which was much cheaper and they came and reinstalled my equipment quickly. Fantastic service all round.
If you are looking for the best cable TV provider, then Directv is the answer. Very pleased with the service I received from the customer representative and installation took place within a few days.
So far everything has run smoothly and we have received the best service. From the reps to quick and easy installation.
Very knowledgeable representatives and friendly. Do not get fed up no matter how many questions you ask! Great service!
The bottom line- I was unhappy with the service from day 1. The technicians blindly drilled holes THROUGH my newly renovated walls and when they realized they were unable to go through, they entered a different place and left nice round holes in my walls in several rooms. This is a terrible company and television service. I reluctantly stuck through 2.5 years of service with this company because I was stuck in a contract with them. After 5 months of service, we moved and were automatically entered into a new contract. Since then, I've received countless phone calls advertising "free" and "promotional" tv packages while the customer service representative purposely tried lure me into agreeing to entering a new contract. Fortunately for me, I understand their tricks. I've had RUDE customer service all-around and ESPECIALLY when I cancelled. Can't wait to see my HUGE UNJUSTIFIABLE cancellation bill. Go with an ANTENNA- you'd be better off.

Yesterday was the day from H E L L . I have never ever experienced such incompetence, disrespect, and indifference from any business that I was trying to purchase a service from. Over an eight hour period on the phone speaking to no less than two dozen ATT and Directtv associates they could not get my installation coordinated. I was lied to, disconnected, and indifferently appologized to over and over again by associates in the sales, sales support, installation, and customer loyalty/retention departments. When I was disconnected no one had the courtesy nor decency to call me back. All of this was going on while two directtv installers waited patiently at my home to do the install. What a wasted day that I took off from work. It is amazing the excuses they gave as to why they couldn't talk to other departments, see other department's notes one my accounts, and why their 'systems' wouldn't allow them to place the order nor modify it. I have been an ATT wirless customer since the '90's and had Uverse internet for over ten years. I am so very glad that I am not under any contract with them as I will jump at the first good opportunity to leave. It is so very, very sad that they treated me the way they did after I had the patience to spend six hours on the phone to try to resolve their problems so that I could buy their service. In any respectable company half of the people that I spoke to yesterday would have been fired on the spot for the indifference and disrepect. Beware! So glad I moved over to Directv. The whole service from the start is professional and friendly. The package options they have are brilliant and we found one that fits in with our family and the picture quality is excellent.
Been with DirecTV for 3 years. For over 1 year, have had lots of trouble with local channels. Called DirecTV but they want $100 for the service, or for $7.95/month contract. I already pay almost $1000/year for this service but am NOT getting what I paid for!! Too bad they treat long time customers like this. Will switch in the next 2 weeks, FOR SURE.
Signed up with Direct Tv and with no problems the first 12 months. Called to change plans and was told that our bill would be $49 a month for the next year. Received our bill the next month and was pleased. However the next month, only 6 weeks after changing plans received a bill for over double the amount agreed to. My husband called to dispute the amount and was told that the promotion expired a month after we signed up although the representative said it would be for the next 12 months.
Anthony, the rep my husband spoke with was extremely disrespectful and raised his voice to my husband. My husband asked to speak to a supervisor and was then hung up on by him, Roger.
After an hour and 10 minutes and 4 representatives later. The only answer we received was that when we changed plans they should have explained that the promotion was ending 6 weeks later! And nothing they could do about it. Horrible constumer service. Extremely dissatisfied and will be cancelling service.
Once you have completed your contract and all of your credits are gone, DirectTV will increase your bill and then tell you we have no more discounts for you and you are stuck with paying high costs. So long DirectTV !
I have had Dish,Comcast,and Direct TV and while DTV has more choices they just were bought out by AT&T. That is a clear sign of prices going north quickly. Darryl posted loyalty issues and attitude which will become the norm. These providers have you over a barrel if you like sports as that will cost you. The fact the FCC allows these companies to charge you per month for set boxes is a complete rip-off . They offer lots of channels that you never use and the idea of a la cart is so out of the question. There has to be something out there that will change this but some lobbyist is paying off somebody in D.C.
I have been with Direct for 5 years. Horrible customer loyalty. When I called told them I was changing to another provider they actually told me I should go, come back in two years. They didn't even try to get me to stay. What a joke.
Service goes out at any sign of rain. Just a drizzle and we lose service. God forbid we get a hurricane come on shore, we would never know where it was. Do not use or fall for their tricks about new satellite dishes being better in weather conditions. NOT TRUE
They went up on my bill from $65.00 to $85.00 when the 3 month promo ended. No more promo's available since they merged with AT&T. Too expensive to keep.
Funny how a company like DirecTV would push away a prospective new customer (with a credit rating of 798) because their "system" cannot verify my credit score after moving. If they plug in my old address (from the house I just sold) they see that my credit is great. If they change the address (about 15 miles away) in the system, they cannot determine my credit worthiness. As such the fee associated with opening up the DirecTV account goes up $300. Since when does one's credit score change upon moving? I spoke with five or six people at DirecTV over two hours. This is so unacceptable to hide behind the shortcomings of their internal processes that I would not recommend DirecTV to anyone.
I posted this on their Facebook page and after DirecTV read the text above, they referred me to write a letter to their dispute department. Why would anyone work there? Then they point me to EquiFax (the credit people) and address the issue there. Crazy.
I've been with these guy's for a year know im paying almost 90 dollars a month and it seems high, and all I have is basic cable, they charge me 15 dollars just to be able to record to shows at once. I have master receiver and 3 rooms, is someone paying the same?
Directv is the best in entertainment. IT really is. Best variety and award winning customer service. I will never get rid of my DTV I love it. In rebuttal to previous comments, the promotions they give you are for a certain amount of time and they do tell you when they put them on that they auto-renew, but are usually helpful in crediting back if you catch it right away. As far as the person who was trying to cancel, it's that person's job to offer you the best value. Even if you disconnect, I admire how they offer you something similar to a new customer offer to emphasize how much they do value the current customers, unlike my prev provider who just waived bye bye and told me good luck. It's classy. And it opens the door for you in the future. I LOVE directv. Free trials of programming all the time, the Genie, etc. Best value in Entertainment.
Whose satellite TV doesn't lose signal in really bad weather? We have had Directv for years now and only when the weather is really severe have we lost signal, and even if it does you can still use the DVR which is great. I have never had any complaints with them, their customer support team are always friendly and any problems they are fixed within a few hours. They also offer great prices.
I have been with Directv for 2 years now and I can almost forgive the occasional bad signal from weather due to the great customer support and the choice and variety of channels available. Whenever I have changed my package there have been no billing issues. I'm looking to upgrade and bundle my phone service with them shortly due to their great customer service.
They like to offer you lots of promotions and then carry on charging you for them when the promotional period ends, very sneaky. Do not accept the promotions unless you ca keep on top of cancelling before they expire!
I signed up for DirecTV 6 months ago and ended up being tied into a contract paying more then I signed up for. I agreed to a package that was $89 and then a couple of weeks into the deal I was charged $120. I called up the customer support and thye told me that was the price of my package and that the $89 was an introductory price that ran out the day before I signed up!! I've spent hours arguing on the phone with them, so I have just given up and will be cancelling as soon as I can wihtout paying them anymore money.
I tried to cancel my service yesterday and the rep just would not stop going on about all of the offers and freebies they would give me. I told them twice that we had already signed up to another company and I wanted to terminate the contract at the end of the month. It took half an hour for them to finally agree to do it, I couldn't believe it. We had not had any issue with them, until then, we just found a better deal elsewhere.
