To account for diverse needs, Verizon FiOS has several different internet packages available for you to choose from. Below is a look at each package and what you receive with it.

The first plan comes with upload and download speeds of 50Mbps. To give you an illustration of the speed's capability, you can upload 200 pictures in as fast as 32 seconds, according to Verizon. When you select this plan, you'll receive the same low price for the first year of service.

Its next offering is its 100 Mbps plan. This plan is perfect for households with four to seven devices using the internet concurrently. With this package, you can upload 200 pictures in as little as eight seconds.

The next plan touts speeds of 150Mbps, making it perfect for homes with eight internet devices. To use the same example as before, you can upload 200 pictures in 5.3 seconds.

If your home has more than eight internet devices, the 300 Mbps plan is perfect for you. The speed is incredible, as you can upload 200 pictures in just 2.7 seconds. What's more, this is a faster offering than you will find with other internet providers such as Time Warner Cable.

The fastest plan from Verizon touts download and upload speeds as quick as 500 Mbps. The plan offers a competitive price for one year and has the capability of uploading 200 pictures in 1.6 seconds.

It's important to note that all Verizon FiOS plans include separate fees for equipment rental. On its website, it states there's a $10 fee assessed monthly for the router and a setup charge of $80. Furthermore, when you sign up for service with Verizon FiOS, it will check your credit and could require you to make a deposit to activate service.

On the topic of early termination fees, according to Verizon Online Terms of Service, you will face an early termination fee if you cancel your contract. However, you will have to call Verizon to find out what the early termination fee is, which is dependent on the total length of the contract and how long you've been subscribed for during said contract.

Signing Up For Verizon Fios

When you sign up for any of the Verizon internet plans, you receive the Quantum Gateway Router. The router delivers the fast speed you require while also providing a generous WiFi service range, resulting in you and others in your household receiving excellent connectivity in every room of your home. After examining the Verizon FiOS internet plans, it's apparent it is one of the fastest internet providers on the market today.

To order FiOS internet, you have three options available. You can:

  • Visit Verizon's website, where you have the ability to order online.
  • Live chat with a representative who can give you more information about the available Verizon FiOS internet plans and pricing and complete your order.
  • You can also call Verizon to complete your order that way.

Overall, the Verizon FiOS internet plans are a game changer because of their symmetrical speeds and reliability. If you are in its service area, it is the best choice for you to consider for these reasons.

The Fiber-Optic Network

As noted above, Verizon FiOS offers a fiber-optic network. How this differs from other providers is the fact with Verizon you receive internet speeds that are fast enough to handle your most demanding online tasks--Verizon's fiber-optic network upload speeds are as fast as the download speeds.

That means you can share content just as fast as you download it. This is an enormous benefit for anyone running a website or eager to share family pictures quickly. More importantly, its internet connection is reliable. This means you can count on Verizon FiOS service whether you are streaming movies, video conferencing, playing games online or posting content.

Additionally, Verizon offers an unlimited plan for DSL Internet. This form of high-speed internet can provide you with the internet services you need if FiOS is not available in your area. Download speeds for Verizon DSL internet range from 0.5Mbps to 15Mbps.

Furthermore, if you are a traveler, you can always instead opt for mobile broadband, which can be accessed from your wireless devices such as a smartphone or a Verizon tablet. With mobile broadband internet access, which can be purchased from the official Verizon Wireless website, you'll be to create a hotspot with either your cell phone or Verizon tablet, utilizing Verizon's 4G LTE network.

However, while cell phone and tablet internet are more accessible - especially if you're on the go - the fees you will pay are a lot higher compared to FiOS internet service. For more information on a mobile phone and tablet internet plan, otherwise known as a data-only plan or a hotspot plan, you should refer to our guide on the best hotspot plans.

Internet Speeds

Knowing how much internet speed you require is a smart way to choose the plan that aligns most with your needs without fear of overpaying.

To this end, it's important to factor in your household's internet use. To start, you should figure out how many internet devices you use. The more devices you use to connect, the faster speeds you'll require so you don't experience a lag in service when you do things such as stream TV shows.

Furthermore, you should also factor in what you do online. If you do more demanding tasks such as video conferencing, playing games online or having multiple people stream movies on different devices, you'll require a faster speed.

There is one other incentive: these are unlimited data plans. In other words, every plan doesn't feature a data cap, so if you need an unlimited plan, then you should consider Verizon FiOS.

After reviewing Verizon FiOS internet speeds, it's clear that Verizon FiOS is a great choice because of the variety of its internet speed offerings. The more diverse the selection the more it appeals to a wide range of needs. Verizon understands this, so its versatile plans give you speeds you won't find with other providers.

To save money on several home services at once, Verizon FiOS bundles allow you to package your internet, FiOS TV, and Verizon home phone service together in one bill. This is the best way to receive a competitive price on all the FiOS services you want. To learn more about Internet and TV bundles, consult our handy guide on the subject. With this in mind, here is a closer look at some of its bundled offerings:

Internet + TV

With this bundle, you receive Verizon FiOS internet service, with your choice of internet speeds ranging from 50 to 100 Mbps. In addition, you have your choice of different cable packages, depending on how many channels you require. What makes this pairing great is it offers different customization--in the basic plan you get to pick your TV channel package. The available channel packs, at least with the Custom FiOS TV plan, are:

  • Action and Entertainment
  • Sports and News
  • Kids and Pop
  • News and Variety
  • Infotainment and Drama
  • Lifestyle and Reality
  • Home and Family

When you sign up for this bundled service, you receive the same price for the first year. I reviewed closer and found it doesn't require a service contract on its internet and TV bundles, giving it an edge on competitors like Comcast who require one to two-year commitments, depending on the package you choose.

Internet + TV + Phone

This Triple Play package combines fast internet with TV and Verizon home phone service. The package is also customizable in that you choose which internet speeds you want, ranging from 50 to 150 Mbps and how many TV channels you require. Let's talk for a moment about the Verizon Home Phone plan, which is included in the available FiOS Triple Play bundles.

This home phone plan includes unlimited nationwide calling alongside many calling features including Voice Mail, Caller ID, and Call Waiting. If you're in need for a call plan, you should certainly consider Verizon. You may also have the FiOS Digital Voice plan available. The Digital Voice plan includes twenty calling features, unlimited local, regional toll, and long distance calling across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.

What is different about this package is each bundled offering gives you the choice of choosing between one year to receive the low promotional price, or you can lock in the price for two years with a service agreement. It's important to note if you choose to do the two-year option and cancel before the contract expires, you will have to pay an early termination fee.

Of course, if you're not too keen on having a landline phone, you can instead adopt a Verizon Wireless call plan. In fact, to counteract the growing availability of mobile phone unlimited data plans amongst the major four carriers, Verizon Wireless has recently unveiled an affordable unlimited data plan, featuring Verizon's fast 4G LTE network. With this plan, you won't face any overage charges, though, in actuality, you won't deal with any overage charges with any of its plans.

Additionally, you could always instead adopt a Verizon Wireless Prepay service, which is more affordable compared to a postpaid plan. However, while there are no contracts with the Verizon Wireless Prepay service, you'll also have fewer options compared to the available postpaid plans. Furthermore, Verizon Wireless has also implemented network optimization. With network optimization, you'll be able to experience the best wireless quality available.

Internet Availability

It's easy to find out if you are eligible for Verizon FiOS broadband internet service. You can visit its website and select the check availability link. Once you fill in and submit your physical address, Verizon will let you know which, if any services are available in your area.

You can also use our handy zip code checker tool to search if Verizon FiOS is in your area.

If you want to bypass the online option, you can contact its customer service line. You also have the option to visit a Verizon store, as its associates can help you.

Plans, Pricing, & Deals

When you're looking for internet plans and prices, variety is a good thing to find. After all, households have varied needs when it comes to internet speeds, so the more diverse the offerings are, the more it will appeal to customers.

For these reasons, a Verizon high-speed internet package is a great choice to consider.

To find the most affordable deals with Verizon FiOS internet service, you can visit its website, then select the order now button. This takes you to the page where you can see all of the current offers from Verizon, including its internet access and bundled deals.

Speaking of bundling, this often represents the best way to save money on multiple services. What you will also find is that by bundling you will pay less for specific services such as the internet since providers mark them down when packaging deals together.

Verizon FiOS Customer Support

Verizon customer reviews and company reputation are two great ways to determine whether or not you might want a Verizon FiOS internet plan. The American Customer Satisfaction Index rated Verizon FiOS as the best internet service provider. Verizon FiOS earned a 73 rating, representing a 7.4 percent increase from 2015. This indicates satisfaction among Verizon's customers continues to grow.

On the Better Business Bureau, Verizon is an Accredited Business with an A+ score. Trustpilot, a website that ranks companies purely from customer reviews, rates Verizon a 9.2/10. Keep in mind that the experiences of one customer are not representative of the company as a whole, but it is important to spot potential issues you may have with the company early nonetheless.

PC Magazine also bestowed excellent honors upon its internet service, stating Verizon FiOS is number one for speed for the 11th year in a row based on the magazine's reader survey.

The fact Verizon FiOS earns top honors from customers and independent publishers show how reputable the service is.

The people working for Verizon are MORONS and the company is a piece of garbage. Apart for providing sub-par service and junky equipment while charging you an arm and a leg for it all, they cannot even perform a simple task as qualifying a new construction home in a new development for service. We purchased a new construction home in a new development. Three weeks ago I called Verizon Fios to ask them to find out of our new construction home in a new development qualifies for service. After being on the phone for an hour with some idiot guy, he says to me I am all set and yes my property does qualify for service at which point we scheduled an installation. Yesterday was the day of installation. I took the full day off (I get paid by the hour not salary) cause they said installation on a home that has never had Verizon could take between 4 to 6 hours. That's all fine and dandy. The Verizon contractor comes by on time and the poor guy was on the phone for an hour with Verizon reps and looking around the property in the heavy rain so he figure things out. Finally he tells me he cannot install Verizon Fios on my property because Verizon never installed any fiber optic cables in this new development and therefore my property should have never been qualified for service. I am done with these idiots. Bad service, bad equipment and completely incompetent customer service people. What a waste of time and money. You guys are absolutely pathetic to have customer service reps lie to customers about qualifying a property like that. And yet that Verizon Fios rep that set my appointment and lied to me about my property qualification is still employed by Verizon and he will make the same mistakes on other poor customers. Pathetic!!! You are not even worth one star!!!

Not Recommendedconsistant servicePrice goes WAY up for loyal customers!!!

After three years with Verizon Fios, our bill is RIDICULOUS.

Verizon is not very interested in KEEPING customers, only in getting new ones.

An actual Verizon employee suggested canceling service and restarting as new customers. Why should I have to play games? If Verizon doesn't want LOYAL customers (and show it by caring for them) then I'll take my loyalty somewhere else.

Yes, Verizon is technically better, Fios doesn't have those annoying brief lapses in service, but the don't care at all for LOYAL customers.

Temporary service, plan on canceling the service after your special price expires. It gets insanely costly.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this service. We lived on Long Island, NY all our lives and were able to get a FIOS triple package with home phone, tons of tv channels which were crisp as the Fall air and PHENOMENOL internet service with HUGE download and UPLOAD speeds for VERY FAIR & REASONABLE prices. Personally, we have 75 down/45 upload, which I needed since I upload tons of pictures to the internet for work. I've NEVER been able to even come near these speeds with AT&T, BRIGHTHOUSE, XFINITY or any other service. The reason that this service is hard to get in your area is because it cost a fortune for Verizon to run the fiber from the node to your neighborhoods. Also, if you live in a community that has underground lines, then it's very tough to get. When we moved to Florida, we SERIOUSLY considered moving into an area that had FIOS but it wasn't where we really wanted to be located for my husbands work. As far as price goes, I'd GLADLY go back to paying $50-60 a month for those HIGH speeds that are true speeds cause I can't get ANYTHING near that now. The speed was very consistent and super fast!! The email service is nice too. Customer service were helpful as tech support was and when the contract expired after a year or two, depending on what you committed to, the rates hardly went up - perhaps 10 -15 dollars a month, which isn't bad. GIVE ME FIOS ANYDAY!!!!

Changing providers to Verizon Fios was the best decision I made. The tech support is fantastic and when my internet speed dropped I called the technical support and the rep was really friendly and talked me through everything and reset the router which got the internet speed back to where it should be. Fantastic service Verizon!

Luckily where we live there are plenty of options for internet service as when my contract with Verizon is up I'm changing my provider. They only care about their new customers and the service is far too expensive for what you get.
