LG G Vista Review: Key Features

Last Updated:

The LG G Vista has three things going for it: a big screen, a big battery, and a small price tag. An entry level smartphone that happens to be huge, big-screen junkies on a budget are served well by the LG Vista. The bloatware and low storage is a bummer, but neither are deal breakers by any means.

Exclusive to Verizon, the LG Vista delivers a solid experience that does well by its larger screen size and bright screen. It's not as high powered as a flagship handset, but is a great starting point into the phablet market.

Thinking of purchasing an LG G Vista? Let's take a closer look at some of its key features before you buy.

In case you didn't pick up on what I was saying earlier, the LG G Vista has a very large screen. Larger, in fact, than pretty much any other midrange handset and some flagship devices, too. The 5.7" HD display is bright, expansive, and sharp, and overall good level image quality. For the low price tag, a 720p HD screen is perfectly acceptable but is noticeably weaker than the 1080p (and higher!) displays of more modern flagship cell phones. Still, videos come in clear and games are colorful.

With a large screen, the LG G Vista supports it with an even larger chassis. Made out of rather cheap feeling plastic, the 6" tall phablet looks quite stylish but can be a chore to hold and use with one hand. It's a struggle to wrap one hand around it fully, and its width can stretch the limits of some pockets. Still, the rounded edges are grippy and comfortable to hold, and the Vista is quite thin.

This phone has two cameras, an 8 MP back-facing camera and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera. It can also shoot videos in Full HD 1920x1080. Additionally, this phone's camera also counts with a few good features like auto-focus, flash, HDR mode and geotagging.

The LG G Vista also features some interesting features like Bluetooth (4.0), GPS Navigation and NFC (to trigger actions, transfer data or make payments by holding your device close to another NFC device or tag), and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, and Compass.

The LG G Vista boots up with the Android KitKat OS, which by 2017 is extremely dated. LG has dialed back on bloatware and preloaded apps, which makes for a very pleasing UI experience. With only 8GB of internal storage (but with room for a microSD card,) this is a blessing.
