Is Optimum Mobile phone service any good?

Works well…..but customer service??

I signed up when it was Altice and they were just getting started for $20 unlimited plan. At first, it was very difficult getting the phone to work. Customer service was non-existent. Once it worked….the phone would often switch to AT&T which was painfully slow. It was so bad, I considered going back to Verizon. I stayed with it and it gradually has improved to the point that I am satisfied. I get good coverage and speeds are fast enough to stream videos for $20 for life. If they would improve customer service….I’d give them 5 stars. For $20……I can’t gripe much.

Horrible reception.

Not only the reception is horrible. They told me of im not happy with the service they will refund me in full. They have no done that. Not only They have not refunded me, they are still sending me emails saying im passed due on my payments, even though I called for cancel my plan numerous times.

It was awful

I was transferred by Suddenlink Cable to Optimum Mobile because I was told if I signed up for a new phone that I also received a discount on my cable bill that turned into my worst nightmare ever after that. I can not take long enough to tell you the whole story after that so I will just say DO NOT TRUST anything these people tell you they will lie in anyway they can to sell this sorry mobile service and Suddenlink Cable did not do anything about it after they transferred me to them. At that time they claimed they were not the same. (After they transferred me to them) I am working on new cable and have canceled my service with the lying company. My rep was named Travis and he worked out of the Lubbock office and NO ONE WOULD HELP ME. Please do not trust anything this company or Suddenlink has to tell you. SCAM

Service is horrible.

No service more than service

Reps don't care if they lose clients for Optimum

Initial reps gave me wrong information about refund policy; one didn't mention it at all. When trying to obtain refund after not accepting Sim cards from Fedex;(as instructed by rep.) the Optimum moblie retention people refused to refund my activation fee. I could not change my first mobile providers as planned. Reps were rude, illogical and didn't care that I couldn't join their plan; they just continued harping on a sale. Optimum should be ashamed of themselves for hiring inconsiderate and ill prepared personnel. Optimum should worry they will lose more customers on their main service. "Dwayne Baker" rep., was obnoxious and rude. Where is client satisfaction and retaining considerations honored here? Optimum big business bull not interested in their clients at all.

Don't switch

About 60% of the time i don't get coverage i am a landscaper i don't get messages or phone calls. I live in the 11930 and surrounding areas , one of the worst decisions I've made.

Not worth the $20 a month per line

Coverage at my home sucks, dropped or unintelligible calls. Customer service useless. Only thing they would do is note my feedback on our account. Mind you we have been triple play customers for over 20 years & pay over $250/month. Spend the extra money for service you can rely on.

Buyer beware.

Received a phone that froze up when I inserted sim card. Given a reference # to go to a specific store so there would be no charge. was told phone had to go back to samsung. Received a confirmation # to return phone Was told everyone must pay a restocking fee of $64.11 regardless of why phone was returned. Customer service is horrible. Round and round on a phone tree, finally get a person? you are sent back to phone tree. Days and hours on the phone. Wish I had read the reviews before going to optimum mobile.

Worthy of use

Since Altice is now under the wing of optimum and uses t-mobile’s and AT&T’s towers, the service Is very good, prices are in league with all other big boys

The Worst Experience Ever!

Had the iphone 13pro for 48 hours and returned it AND they're Still Billing Me! I was also quoted a $30 dollar restocking few that turned into $50! The Customer Service is a joke no one knows their job!!!!

So far the phone service is great

I am very happy with the phone samsung Galaxy a32. The phone takes good pictures. The company seems to do good. I have suddenlink and so far very good services,

Don't get fooled by optimum's fake service

Don't get fooled by the nice words and promises you get before opening a plan! I was pushed to take the more expensive plan, with the promise of unlimited data. I did so, and then I found myself with very slow to no internet service. When I questioned them, they said the unlimited plan is only up to 20 gig. Then they turn it down to 2g.... If you want to use your internet unlimited, FIND A DIFFERENT CARRIER! DO NOT USE OPTIMUM!!!

Desirable rates

I live in Jericho Long Island and have switched from T-Mobile for better rates. Their signal strength is quite adequate for my personal use. I agree customer service needs improvement but the saving in monthly fees are better than my prior carrier

Worst customer service I have had in years......

I called customer service then transferred me, someone answered then hung up. I called back they told me to call another number. Same thing happened again. I waited called back the next day, when they couldn't answer my hotspot question, I asked them to transfer me to someone who could and you guessed it they hung up on me. Not doing business with this company anymore. My time is worth moving on.

A Complete Ripoff.

My rating of them should be a zero. I called Suddenlink to add TV to go along with my Internet account. While adding this I was upsold by the rep to add Optimum Mobile. I am retired, living on a fixed income. The plan they suggested for two lines with new cell phones was $45.08. I was interested because that was less than I was currently paying with another carrier. They recommended the Samsung A12. I asked about a trial period and was told that I had 14 days to try the phones and service. They said if I didn't like the phones I could cancel and have my money returned. I researched the phone and decided that it was not very good. I called back within an hour to cancel the account. I was told that the phones were already with shipping and that to call back after receiving the phones to cancel. I was told that upon cancellation, there would be no money refunded. $40 was for the two line activation and the $34.86 was for taxes. The total they were going to keep was the $74.86 that I had already paid. I had yet to even receive the phones, much less activate them. I spoke to two different supervisors and was told by both that there was nothing they could do. Unbelievable. Terrible Company and customer service. I should have researched Optimum Mobile. I incorrectly believed that because they offered this service while I was on the phone with Suddenlink, that they were reputable. Wrong! Please stay away. Read reviews. I should have.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER

LIES LIES LIES... THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND YOU CAN NOT CANCEL YOUR ORDER AND THEN THEY CHARGE A RESTOCKING FEE OF $50 THAT NEITHER CUSTOMER SERVICE OR IN STORE CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT ......

Awesome

Great customer service and escalation agents ive ever dealt with!! Good JOB

Worst. Service. Ever.

1) They sent me a used phone with someone else’s Apple ID still in it. Then refused to take money off or do ANYTHING to compensate me. Different story each time I called customer service. 2) Worst cell service I have experienced since 1999. You want dropped calls? You want to not be able to hear who you are talking to so each conversation becomes “What? Can you hear me?” Couldn’t open my home security app, email, banking apps. Even though I was supposed to be in a 5G area. 3) When I finally had enough and went to switch back to AT&T, I purchased my devices and requested Altice to remove the SIM card restrictions and unlock my phone. Their agent lied to me and said that I couldn’t cancel until 60 days passed (no contract?) and even then, it would take 4 business days for the lock to be removed. So I called back the next day and didn’t mention I was canceling my service and suddenly, there was no time restrictions and my phone was unlocked 12 hours later. DO NOT TRY ALTICE MOBLE. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

STAY AWAY!!

Had the best service with sprint, when I got optimum WiFi for my home they offered me the altice mobile plan, it sounded very promising as it was half of what I was paying for sprint, they told me they use the same towers as Verizon and sprint so it’s technically the same service just a diff company. Long story short, I have NO SERVICE where I live, all my phone calls are not going through, ppl call me it goes straight to my VM, calls are failing, I commute my kids to school every day and the music is super spotty. I called them several times before my 21 day return was up and they kept saying they are working on the issue, well it’s been 2 months and I called them back a few days ago to cancel my plan and return my phone and they won’t allow me to do it since my 21 days are up. And the tech told me “sorry we do see that service in your area is super spotty” They said the only way to cancel is if I pay up my phone which is $1500. Save yourselves a huge headache and stay away!

Optimum is HORRIBLE!

If you have the option, RUN! Go with a different company. Optimum is completely horrible. I’d much rather deal with dial up internet then continue dealing with this company!
