7 Ways to Find a Phone Number Online

Last Updated:

Nowadays you can find nearly any phone number by doing an online search.

Whether you're using a computer or your cell phone, here are seven ways you can search online for a personal or business phone number.

1. Online Directories

We recommend starting with Whitepages.com. By entering the person's name and location you can find their home phone number free of charge. Upgrading to a small fee of $4.99 allows you to find a person's cell phone number.

Pipl.com is another website in which you can enter the person's name and location where their home phone number is pulled up for free. Other information is provided such as education, career, and relatives. Although this service is good for locating residential phone numbers, it's a bit trickier locating an individuals mobile number.

Another online source is PeopleFinder.com. This website provides a similar service to White Pages, offering a home phone line after entering the person's name and location. You will need to pay for an upgrade to view a person's cell phone number. Other information is provided such as email addresses, public records, and social media profiles.

2. Android Apps

Several free apps can be downloaded from Google PlayStore to help locate an individual's phone number.

We like Phone Number Tracker and Mobile Number Tracker which allow you to find phone numbers for individuals on your Android device. Be aware that these apps are free which means you will be viewing ads.

3. iOS Apps

Similar free apps are available for iOS devices.

We suggest the BeenVerified app; this app gives you the freedom of pulling up phone numbers and addresses once you've typed in a person's name. For a paid upgrade, you'll be able to find more information such as arrest records and social media.

Another helpful app is Intelius which provides a free reverse phone lookup and people search app. This another free app to try; with a paid upgrade you can view more information such as thorough background reports.

4. Social Media

Millions of people are linked with social media sites, giving you the opportunity to find more information regarding their personal status, location, and their phone number.

Let's begin with Facebook. With millions of users worldwide, Facebook is an easy source for finding a person's phone number. You can access Messenger and try sending a personal message asking for a person's number or try a reverse phone lookup on Facebook itself.

Examples of other social media sites include Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and a huge list of dating sites too long to list in this article. LinkedIn is another source you can access for locating business phone numbers, and even personal mobile numbers if the person chooses to include it in their personal profile.

A simple name search entered into the Google Search Bar may prove to be successful when searching for an individual's phone number. We suggest you type the phrase "cell phone number" or "phone number" next to the person's name. Try placing quotation marks around the person's name as well.

6. Reverse Phone Lookup

Many sites, such as Spokeo.com and Intellius.com, offer reverse phone lookup services. Here you can type in a person's name and location to achieve the results of finding a phone number. Remember that landlines are more difficult to find numbers for. Something else you should know is that sometimes a mobile phone number is listed as a landline.

7. Business Directories

If it's a business number you're searching for, utilize the "Locator" feature on the business website to find your local branch. Most times it will list a phone number where you can reach that location. If this doesn't work, not, try typing the name and address of the business into Google Maps or Yelp and most times a phone number is provided.

These are the best ways to locate a person's or a business phone number to date. Every day there are advances in technology making it easier to you to find an individuals phone number along with more detailed information such as arrest records, information regarding their marital status, where they attended school, family information, and more.

Something to remember…

If you're able to easily acquire another person's phone number, this means they can also acquire your number as well.

If you wish your number to remain private it's smart to keep your information private when on social media sites and other sites that may reveal your personal information.
