COMPARE NOW: Compare Cell Phone Models and Prices

The Google Pixel 2 was widely anticipated throughout 2017, but since its launch, many consumers have reported a few disappointing issues with the display. But is it worth it? The smaller Pixel 2 definitely is worth the price.

But before moving forward, it should be noted that if you plan on purchasing this phone and don't have a cell phone plan to complement it, then you can always refer to our handy cell phone plan comparison tool.

Now then, the design of the Google Pixel 2, for the most part, hasn't changed from the original Pixel. The Pixel 2 sports an aluminum unibody, covered with what Google says is a "hybrid coating." While this gives the phone a more plastic-like feel, it still looks premium.

There is also the glass visor that surrounds the Pixel 2's camera sensor. Even more appealing is the highly responsive fingerprint sensor, fitted on the back of the Pixel 2. However, the front's design doesn't give off a 2017 vibe. In fact, the Pixel 2 sports rather large bezels on the top and bottom of the screen, as well as front-facing stereo speakers.

The strangest part is that they bezels and speakers of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are the same exact size. Even more disappointing is the lack of the headphone jack, but it appears that the headphone jack is going the way of the dodo anyway.

As far as resistance goes, the Pixel 2 features IP67 ratings for both dust and water.

And what of the display? Well, the Pixel 2's OLED display is 5 inches and features 1080p resolution. Furthermore, it has a pixel density of 441ppi and the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. Overall, the display is vibrant and vivid, unlike the Google Pixel 2 XL (but that is for another review).

Performance-wise, the Pixel 2 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, complemented with the Adreno 450 GPU and 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM. In other words, expect a feisty powerhouse that is not only responsive and snappy but highly efficient, allowing you to multi-task with ease and play graphically-intensive games without issue.

Oh, and better yet - and deemed as one of the most notable features of the Google Pixel series - is that the Pixel 2 will be the first phone to receive Android updates. Want that Oreo badly? No problem, as the Pixel 2 is complemented with Android Oreo off the bat.

Storage-wise, don't expect expandable storage. Google, however, increased the internal storage from 32GB to 64GB. Furthermore, a 128GB model is also for sale. But if you're worried about video and images taking up storage, no worries there - you'll be able to upload unlimited photos and videos until 2020.

Another bonus? The Pixel 2 is the first phone to support eSIM (at least with Project Fi), which means the phone is equipped with an embedded SIM card. Instead, you can switch to another carrier without worry of switching a physical SIM card.

And what about the battery? The Pixel 2 is packed with a non-removable 2700 mAh battery, which is consistent in terms of daily usage. Overall, the battery life is rather decent, but it will definitely need charging by the end of the day.

Finally, we have the camera. Another notable feature of the Pixel 2 is the camera. The camera quality is more than impressive, as it sports a single 12.2MP rear sensor. Portrait mode is among the best. Oh, and the front camera has an 8MP sensor as well, which is more than what most phones offer in terms of the front camera sensor.

Overall, the Pixel 2 is not the fanciest or the most premium cell phone, but its software and cameras are nothing to scoff at. Overall, you cannot go wrong with this beauty.

If you are interested in the Google Pixel 2, you should certainly pick one up, but if you're still uncertain, you can always refer to our Google phones directory to compare the best Google phones.
