Buy a Cheap Samsung Galaxy S7

Last Updated:

Nowadays, there are so many iterations of the Samsung Galaxy phones that they are becoming a little hard to follow. But one thing is for sure: the Samsung Galaxy S7, especially when in refurbished condition, is worth a look.

And no, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is not to be confused with the explosive Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Before moving onto the review, it should be noted that if you want to buy a used Samsung Galaxy S7, it will likely be unlocked, so you'll be able to tether the phone to any carrier that will support the S7, so long as you have the necessary SIM card.

However, your phone may be locked at the time of purchase, so you may have to unlock the phone. To learn more about unlocking phones, you should read, "How to Unlock Your Phone & Use it With a New Carrier."

However, if you're unsure as to what cell phone plan you should adopt, then you should refer to our cell phone plan comparison tool.

When it comes to the design, the Samsung Galaxy S7 isn't a vast improvement over the Samsung Galaxy S6, but that's not bad - the S7 sports a sleek, modern look that is pure eye candy. The front and the rear of the phone are covered in Gorilla Glass 4, but on the side, you'll notice a metal rim. Now, the sides on the rear are curved, and it is thinner compared to its predecessor. Better yet, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is considerably flatter, thanks to the lack of camera protrusion.

And you can't forget about the water resistance and microSD expansion, which make a comeback in the Galaxy S7. Now, the phone sports IP68 water resistance.

In terms of display, you'll find that the Galaxy S7's display stands at 5.1-inches and sports a 2560x1440 resolution, which is unchanged from the S6 family. Furthermore, you'll find Samsung's Super AMOLED technology in the S7, leading to some vibrant colors and crisp details.

However, the S7 marks the introduction of the Always-on display, meaning that even when the phone is locked and dark, you'll still see bits of information on the screen such as the time, date, and notification icons.

Unfortunately, the Always-on Display eats up extra battery - about 15 percent more per day to be specific.

Then you have the performance. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is launched with Android Marshmallow, though it is eligible for an upgrade to Android Oreo. And what of the processor? In the US and a few other territories, the S7 is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM, meaning smoother multi-tasking and heavy game-playing.

Of course, there's also the camera to consider. The camera takes stunning photos, even with the drop from 16MP to 12MP, but the pixels are larger. Furthermore, there are a variety of other features to consider, including Pro mode and faster autofocus. Also, expect 4K video recording.

The battery has also increased to 3000mAh - an improvement over the original S6. Combine the increased amount of battery with an efficient processor and you have a phone that will last all day. However, you'll need to charge it overnight.

You should check online for the best prices of the Samsung Galaxy S7. You'll find S7 models for sale at a cheaper price online compared to what you'd find at physical retailers. However, it's important to compare the prices of refurbished and unlocked S7 models from the top resellers to ensure you'll receive the best price.
