The team also looks at your overall tax debt situation to see if your debt can be reduced. For example, old tax returns can be re-filed, taking advantage of deductions you may have overlooked.

The Tax Defense Partners team negotiates with the government on several different options. Upon a painstaking review of your total tax and financial status, they approach the IRS with the best solution for your case.

Some taxpayers will qualify for the Offer in Compromise Program. The IRS conducts a thorough examination of your income, assets, expenses and liabilities to determine if your tax debt is too large for you to pay. Should you qualify, you are granted a reduction in your tax debt. While it's difficult to qualify, the program is a real boon to those who do.

The Currently Not Collectible status is granted to those who are under extreme financial duress. They can stop making payments to the IRS until they improve their financial situation, but interest will accrue on the tax debt that they eventually must resume paying.
