Pure Talk data speeds
Data speeds can vary with Pure Talk. Some customers report their service can be frustratingly slow. They explain this on their site as 'Congestion-Based Data Management'. That's a fancy way of saying they slow down the service when lots of people are using it at the same time.
Pure Talk data plans
With a range of data plans to choose from there's something for the lowest to the highest data consumer.
While we don't recommend paying a premium for unlimited until you've taken time to check your data usage, Pure Talk's unlimited data plan comes with a hefty 30GB.
Once you run out of data, your service will slow to 128kbps. Practically, this means it'll be painfully slow to carry out basic phone functions, like sending a message, and near impossible to do things like browse the internet.
Pure Talk features
All iPhones brought to PureTalk will have mobile hotspot enabled. If you have an Android device you'll need to contact customer support to find out if it can be enabled.
Bring your own phone
Save more by bringing your own unlocked device with you. Use our IMEI checker to see which carriers your phone is compatible with.
Unlimited talk and text
Domestic talk and text come unlimited as standard with PureTalk. For international calling or messaging you'll need to purchase an add-on.

TRUSTPILOT USER RATING
A score of 2.3 beats the big networks, but it's nowhere near the great TrustPilot scores we see awarded to other alternative carriers. Let's look at why that is.
PureTalk's customer support is lacking. Their chat function is full of hitches and hurdles, so you're better off calling them. Even then, issues can take a frustrating amount of time to resolve.

Pure Talk FAQs
Is Pure Talk any good?
A good cell phone plan depends on your needs. This carrier operates on the AT&T network, which has the second-best 4G LTE coverage in the US, and they have a range of plans available to suit most cell phone users.
What phones are compatible with Pure Talk?
PureTalk is on the GSM network. If you've got an unlocked phone on the GSM network (AT&T or T-Mobile) you'll be able to bring your own phone to PureTalk. If you've got a CDMA phone you may still be able to bring it across. You can check this on the carrier's website.
How much is Pure Talk?
Depending on what your phone usage is, there's a number of plans available for any budget. Check your data usage to see if you really need unlimited data. If you'd be stuck without it, PureTalk offers an unlimited plan, but it's not the cheapest from low-cost carriers.
PureTalk has proudly supported active-duty military and veterans since launching in 2014.
This alternative carrier is ideal if you're looking for a low data limit cell phone plan, or you want to add multiple lines to your account. However, for the data-hungry cell phone user you might be better placed to compare them with other prepaid cell phone plans.
