    Straight Talk Review in 2022

Is Straight Talk phone service good?

Straight Talk cell phone plans review

By Rob Webber - Last updated on

    Pros

    • Unlimited data plans

    • Two-line plan option

    • Plenty of add-ons like international service

    • Easily accessible at WalMart stores

    • Phone financing available

    Cons

    • Plans not as flexible as some MVNOs

Straight Talk is an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) owned by fellow low-cost carrier Tracfone.

Piggybacking on all three major networks, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile mean you'll get the same quality coverage at half the price. And with Straight Talk, you'll never have to worry about being charged extra for going over your data allowance.

We've broken it down for you below, to help you decide if this MVNO is for you.

Although not the cheapest low-cost carrier, Straight Talk offers a good variety of plans and all with no contract. So if you're not happy you can change your plan or leave without an early termination fee.

All plans include unlimited talk and text and unlimited data (sort of). You'll never have to worry about being charged for going over your data allowance again, but once you hit your allowance your speeds will be slowed to 2G.

They offer 3, 6, or 12 months bundled at a discount, but you'll need to pay for it upfront.

    Straight Talk benefits

    • Same quality coverage: operating on all three major networks you can stay with your current network while saving money on your cell phone bill.
    • No commitment: low-cost carriers have no contracts, so if the plan doesn't fit your needs anymore you can cancel without an early termination fee.
    • Keep your phone and number: no need to upgrade to the latest smartphone, unless you want to. You can bring your own phone and keep your number.
    • Lower prices: traditional plans cost around $80 a month, so you can halve the cost of your monthly phone bill with a low-cost carrier plan.
    • Buy online: you can pick and purchase your plan from the comfort of your own home.
