Accuracy is Important
You can go to each carrier's site to get the information if you want to change your APN setting. This includes carriers such as T-Mobile, Sprint, and the other carriers. However, you need to make sure that the network setting information provided is entered exactly as it is on the APN information for each provider.
You should use upper and lower case in the same places as the carrier has and you should follow the instructions to the letter. For example, let's say you are looking at the T-Mobile APN Settings. The information you need to enter will include fields such as the APN Name, proxy port, server, username and password, authentication type, APN protocol, and APN Type amongst others. Some fields will have nothing next to them while others will contain values.
When you bring the information up, you will see that there are lots of areas that you need to leave blank. It is important that you follow this information and only input the data that is there. So, areas such as username and password, proxy port, authentication type and the server you need to leave blank when entering the information. With information such as APN protocol and other completed fields for the T-Mobile APN, enter them exactly as provided.

If, when adding the new network access point information, you do make a mistake, simply tap on 'reset settings'. This will take you back to the default APN and you can then start over.
As you can see, changing the APN setting on your phone is very simple. Accuracy is the key to success with this process. If you enter any information incorrectly when setting up a new APN, it can mess things up. Everything has to be exact, including any spacing, punctuation, and characters.
