h2o Wireless is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that operates on the AT&T 4G LTE network. This low-cost carrier has been in business since 2010.
As a prepaid cellular company, h2o Wireless offers cheap cell phone plans, but how do they compare to the other MVNOs out there?
We're here to help you gauge whether this carrier is right for you. Check out our h2o Wireless review and if that's not enough for you take a look at what real customers are saying about the company.
As far as plans go, h2o Wireless has you covered! You can choose from three categories with h2o Wireless:
Monthly Unlimited - Unlimited meaning unlimited talk and text (including international). For data you can choose from 1GB all the way up to 10 GB. As you can see from the chart though, the average AT&T user on an unlimited plan uses less than 4 GB of data/month so you should be set!
Pay as you Go - With this you pay per text, mms, minute, and data. This plan is ideal for anyone who isn't always attached to their phone. It works best for seniors.
Multi-Line (family) - Bundle your family phone plan together and get discounted rates through h2o Wireless.

AT&T vs h2o Wireless Plan Comparison
Keep your AT&T phone, number & coverage:Save $562 per year
This means in many parts of the country you'll have access to 4G LTE connection speeds when using data. Along with fast connection speeds, you have good service reliability for talk and sending text messages.
If you want to learn about how AT&T fares against Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile, then you should read our guide to the best cell phone coverage.
The h2o Wireless website only has a few phones available for you to purchase through them. However, the good news is you can BYOP and either way, you can keep your old number.
Keep in mind no matter what you do you need a GSM phone. How do you know if your current phone is GSM compatible? Well, if you're already on the AT&T or T-Mobile networks then your phone is GSM. If you are on the Sprint or Verizon network you'll either have to unlock your phone or purchase a new one.
No matter what network you transfer from, if you BYOP you need to own it outright meaning if you still make monthly payments you'll have to pay that off before you switch. You can order your h2o Wireless SIM card online and you'll just need to adjust the h2o Wireless APN settings on your device.
Key Considerations
The idea of choosing an MVNO over the big four can be scary if you're just now hearing about them. But the reality is they've been here a long time! You'll want to gather some info though before committing to a plan:
Do you really NEED unlimited data? The average data usage is only 3-5GB.
You can save even more by purchasing a refurbished phone instead of wasting money on a new device. It's also well worth considering selling your old device for cash online.
