Pix Wireless phone service in 2021

2.5/5 Stars

  • Choice of GSM or CDMA networks
  • International roaming options for frequent travelers
  • Monthly and pay-as-you-go options
  • Virtual SIM option for a second phone number

  • Pricier data than other MVNOs
  • No hotspot or tethering
  • No unlimited data plan
  • Website is cluttered, not very user friendly

Pix Wireless is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that operates on both the CDMA and GSM networks.

Like all MVNOs, Pix Wireless purchases service in bulk from the "big four" (Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile) and sells it back to consumers at lower costs.

Pix Wireless offers CDMA service plans from Verizon and GSM service plans on the AT&T network. This differentiates them from the competition because they can accept more customers that wish to bring their own phones.

All Pix Wireless prepaid cell phone plans come with nationwide calling, caller ID, voicemail, and call waiting. All Pix Wireless plans with data include 4G speeds until you reach your data cap.

With Pix Wireless cell phone service, you can customize your plan to suit your individual needs. Just filter the number of minutes, text messages, and data you need on their site to narrow down a plan.

Additionally, it is worth noting that Pix Wireless does not offer family plans. If you're looking for a shared family plan, you'll need to check elsewhere.

AT&T vs Pix Wireless Plan Comparison

Keep your AT&T phone, number & coverage: Save $444 per year

CarrierNetwork Coverage4G LTE DataPriceAnnual Cost
AT&TAT&T 4G LTEUnltd*$75/mo$900/yr
Pix WirelessAT&T 4G LTE5GB$38/mo$456/yr
*Don't waste money on unlimited data - Avg. data usage is only 3-5GBSavings$37/mo$444/yr

Customers with unlimited data plans only use on average 3-5GB of data per month. That tells us that most people are paying for a lot of data that they're not using. Most importantly, you'll receive the same coverage as AT&T or Verizon customers.

Not sure if 5GB of data will be enough for you? Check out our data usage calculator and see if you can skate by on 5GB or less!

Pix Wireless Coverage

Pix Wireless' coverage map indicates that the service covers 99 percent of America with 4G LTE. You may, however, want to check the Pix Wireless website to make sure 4G LTE and full, quality coverage is offered from Pix in your area. You can also check out our guide to the best cell phone coverage for more information about Sprint.

Otherwise, you may get stuck with no service or slow service. Pix Wireless coverage is not as great as MVNOs who use Verizon Wireless. They also do not offer mobile hotspot tethering. If you're looking to use a mobile hotspot, you'll have to find a different provider.
