Key Considerations of Online Vitamin Stores

Before ordering from a reputable vitamin store, be sure it meets the following criteria:

  • Brand Variety and Quality- Individuals who take vitamins typically purchase a wide variety of them to meet the full daily recommended values. Some of the best-selling vitamins include vitamin A, C, D, E, calcium, zinc, and magnesium. Try to shop with a site that carries a range of products and leading brands like Puritan's Pride, Nature's Way, Swanson, and Nature's Bounty.
  • Health Information- Does the site post useful health information in the form of blog articles or links to relevant external sources? Health buffs may want a site that posts exercise tips, nutrition plans, etc.
  • Rewards Program- Reward perks and email updates are a great way for merchants to stay in touch with their customer base. Select a vitamin retailer that rewards you for shopping with them by granting you points or discounts that can be applied to purchases.
  • Satisfaction Guarantee- Always check the site's satisfaction guarantee. This ensures that you get your money refunded if you're not pleased with your order.
  • Return Policy- It's a good idea to review the site's privacy policy and return policy prior to ordering. Some sites only allow a refund within 30-days while others extend the time period up to 90-days.

These vitamin websites stand out among the rest for the assortment of vitamin and supplement brands as well as other incentives like discounts, free shipping, and satisfaction guarantees.

Online Vitamin Store FAQs

QAre vitamins FDA approved?

This question gets posed quite often. When individuals walk into a vitamin or supplement store they tend to think that the products are FDA approved and therefore safe. That's far from the case.

The Food and Drug Administration is responsible for the oversight and regulation of food and prescription medications-not vitamins or supplements. With that said, the FDA is not required to even review vitamins sold in the United States. Before a company markets a dietary supplement, however, it is in charge of ensuring that it is safe for the public and claims made about it are not misleading. Since it falls upon their shoulders (with no formal oversight), there's always a slim chance it has adverse side effects.

Prior to starting a vitamin or supplement routine, it's best to first consult your physician. There is such thing as taking too many vitamins and it can be dangerous to your health. For example, ingesting too much vitamin C can result in diarrhea, stomach upsets, and nausea. A physician can help you determine which areas you may need assistance with.

QWhat should I do if I'm having a negative reaction to a vitamin or supplement?

You purchase a supplement at an online vitamin store, take two as directed, and a few hours later realize you're having an allergic or adverse reaction. What are you supposed to do? It may seem like an obvious answer but immediately discontinue use altogether and contact a physician or the poison control hotline if necessary. In some instances you may be having an allergic reaction to the particular drug or the actual supplement may be dangerous and require a report to MedWatch. While the FDA isn't in charge of approving or denying any vitamins or supplements, they do have a program called MedWatch for consumers to report adverse reactions and quality problems.

To report an adverse event, you can either report in online, by phone at 1-800-FDA-1088 or have your physician report on your behalf. The route you choose is up to you. What's important is that you address the issue by seeking professional help.

I know evitamins had a returned parcel from me in March and in August they still refuse to return my money saying the item still hasn't been returned to them despite DHL confirming it has. I'd be avoiding them for a start.
