AT&T Review

Last Updated:

AT&T cell phone plans are numerous, but unfortunately, the features and terms of service are a little confusing for the consumer - in other words, you and me. What do we know about plans and pricing?

As consumers, we can all pretty much agree on two things about the "big four":

  1. Pricing is through the roof – the big four often have high price tags associated with them. So we want to prioritize strong talk and LTE network we also want budget-friendly prices.
  2. Reading the fine print is getting annoying - We want clear-cut and simple-to-digest information that will help us decide who the best carrier is.

Key Considerations When Choosing AT&T

Before diving into the rabbit hole of carriers be sure you know what you want out of a carrier. It will make deciding much easier. Ask yourself:

AT&T Pricing: Is it Competitive?

AT&T and Verizon are known for pricier cell phone plans. In fact, let's take a look at how exactly they compare amongst unlimited plans:

CarrierNetwork CoverageData LimitMonthly PriceAnnual Price

Sprint 4G LTEUnlimited*$60$720

Verizon 4G LTEUnlimited*$75$900

T-Mobile 4G LTEUnlimited*$70$840

AT&T 4G LTEUnlimited*$75$900

As you can see AT&T and Verizon are tied for the most expensive unlimited plan. That's a lot of dough. However, what's crazy is that the average AT&T unlimited plan consumer only uses around 4GB of data per month. Which means they're really overpaying.

Keep Your AT&T Coverage, Pay Less

If you want that great AT&T coverage but can't justify the price you're in luck! You still have plenty of options with AT&T MVNOs.

CarrierNetwork CoverageData LimitMonthly PriceAnnual Price
AT&TAT&T 4G LTEUnlimited*$75$900
Cricket WirelessAT&T 4G LTE5GB$40$480
* Avg AT&T user on unlimited plan uses less than 4GB data per month

That's right, with an AT&T MVNO you can enjoy the saver AT&T 4G LTE coverage as every AT&T customer but at a half the price.

MVNOs buy service in bulk from the big four networks and resell it to consumers at a lower cost. They're able to do so because they don't spend the millions of dollars in advertising per year like the big four and they also don't have a lot of brick-and-mortars to run which saves them A LOT of money. In fact, a lot of them operate solely online.

AT&T is a solid choice for a mobile wireless service provider based on price, performance and phone selection. Like rival Verizon, they offer excellent coverage and fast LTE networks. QIs Boost Mobile on a GSM network?

Boost Mobile offers wireless phone service via CDMA technology (Code Division Multiple Access), not GSM. CDMA was introduced in the 1990s for use on 3G networks and is not as extensive as GSM technology. Boost Mobile is the prepaid phone service subsidiary of Sprint, relying on their network.

QHow does AT&T U-Verse Internet work?

AT&T U-verse uses FTTP, VDSL, and ADSL communications technology protocols to provide triple-play telecommunications services. Customers get super fast internet, a TV signal put into IP form and IP telephone. While the signal is faster than DSL, it is not as robust.

U-verse is an AT&T brand name for telecommunications services launched in June, 2006 including fast internet, telephone and TV service. The phone and TV service are internet based, with the TV signal converted to IP form and delivered over fiber optic cable and standard phone wiring.
