As an MVNO, Boost Mobile provides affordable cell phone plans without compromising quality.

This low-cost carrier is powered by the T-Mobile and AT&T networks, and with no contracts, it's easy to sign up for Boost Mobile.

We've even broken down the steps you need from start to finish below.

1: Check Boost Mobile coverage

Before signing up for Boost Mobile, checking coverage in your area is a good idea.

Operating on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks, you can use our Boost Mobile coverage map to check your ZIP code and make sure you're covered, especially if you're new to these networks.

2: Bring your own phone to Boost Mobile

Once you know you have coverage on the AT&T or T-Mobile network where you live; you'll need to choose whether you want to bring your own phone to Boost Mobile or upgrade.

The good news is you can save money by bringing your phone when you join Boost Mobile. And if your phone's unlocked from its existing carrier, it should be compatible with AT&T or T-Mobile.

However, if you're looking to upgrade, there are plenty of new cell phones to choose from when you set up your Boost Mobile plan. And the best thing is they offer affordable monthly installment plans.

3: Choose your Boost Mobile plan

Carrier Network Data Price
Boost Mobile 1GB plan AT&T & T-Mobile 5G/4G Coverage 1GB $8/mo
Boost Mobile unlimited data plan AT&T & T-Mobile 5G/4G Coverage Unltd $12.50/mo $25/mo
Boost Mobile 5GB plan AT&T & T-Mobile 5G/4G Coverage 5GB $15/mo

Boost Mobile plans provide something to suit all needs, whether you're looking for multi-line discounts for a family plan, unlimited data (which is capped at 35GB of high-speed data), or just an affordable plan that can save you money.

Once you've picked the plan with all the features you need, you can choose whether to have a SIM card delivered to your door. Or, if your cell phone supports eSIM, you can select a Boost Mobile eSIM plan.

4: Activate your Boost Mobile plan

Depending on whether you've picked a physical SIM card or an eSIM plan, there are a few steps you'll need to take:

How to set up Boost Mobile SIM card:

  • When your Boost Mobile SIM kit arrives in the post, you'll need to pop the SIM card into your phone
  • Then choose to activate your phone online or via the Boost Mobile website

Activating Boost Mobile plans on an iPhone:

  • Go to Settings > General
  • Choose VPN & Device Management
  • Go to Boost Mobile BYOD and select remove
  • The carrier must be set to at least Boost Mobile 49.1

If you've upgraded and have a new phone, you'll need to make sure the software is up to date. Then go to Settings > General > About (then a pop-up will appear) > Verify the carrier is at least Boost Mobile 49.1 and click Update.

Activating Boost Mobile plans on an Android:

If you're bringing your own Android, you'll need to change your APN settings to make sure you get the most of the services

  • Settings > Connections/Network Connections or Network and Internet
  • Select Mobile Networks and make sure Mobile Data is enabled
  • Choose Access Point Names (APN) and select "Add."

For the specific information required, see our Boost Mobile APN settings.

Once all the information is added, select Save > Make sure the newly created APN is selected > Restart your phone, then disconnect from the internet and check you're set up by making a phone call or sending a message.

How to set up your eSIM with Boost Mobile:

If you've brought your own iPhone or upgraded and it's an iPhone XS or later, you'll be able to opt for an eSIM plan.

When signing up for your Boost Mobile plan, you'll be given the option to select eSIM and then follow a few steps to activate your eSIM there and then.
