Lycamobile's a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (or MVNO) that's making waves all over the world.

They offer prepaid cell phone plans, complete with international calling, texting, and plenty of data. And you know you're getting top-notch coverage as they operate on the T-Mobile network.

So, if you're thinking of switching to a Lycamobile cell phone plan, find out more about the pros and cons of this low-cost carrier.

1. Is Lycamobile good?

Lycamobile's available in over 20 countries, including the UK, Australia, France, and Italy. And it's currently building its name in the US.

Choosing a cell phone provider is personal, depending on needs and budget. But with MVNOs, you don't need to sacrifice quality coverage.

Powered by the T-Mobile network, you'll get access to their 4G LTE and 5G wireless coverage at half the cost.

There are many great things about Lycamobile, but there are also some disadvantages to this low-cost carrier. I'm here to compare the pros and cons to help you make the decision if a Lycamobile prepaid plan is for you.

3. Lycamobile 5G & 4G LTE coverage

The FCC collects coverage data, which only offers an approximate indication and doesn't account for indoor coverage. The actual speed and performance can vary depending on your location and device. The reception you experience is influenced by local conditions and elements like natural and artificial physical features in your area.

According to a RootMetrics report, T-Mobile's data speeds are impressive, along with their expanding 5G network.

If you're changing phone networks and are unsure of T-Mobile's coverage in your area, you can check out our Lycamobile coverage map. Just enter your ZIP code to find out how the network performs where you live.

4. Lycamobile unlimited data

Are you tired of being promised unlimited data only to find out there are hidden caps and limitations?

Like most MVNOs, Lycamobile is clear on its offerings. All of their plans have unlimited data, so you'll never be charged for using too much data. But there's a limit on how much of that data will be 5G speeds.

So when you're choosing your plan, you can pick from a range of data caps, including up to 60GB. But once you hit that cap, your speeds will be slowed until your next billing cycle.

5. Lycamobile family plans

Each plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data (capped at 40GB 5G speeds). Plus, unlimited international talk and text to 75+ countries.

Now I know you might be thinking, what's so great about that? But these plans are half the price of an unlimited plan with one of the big guys. And you're still getting plenty of data.

8. Bring your own phone to Lycamobile

If you don't want to upgrade your cell phone, Lycamobile allows you to bring your own phone. You just need to make sure it's unlocked.

Most carriers will lock phones when you buy them to prevent you from switching, but they're required to have an unlocking policy. So as long as your contract is paid off and you haven't reported your phone lost, stolen, or used in fraudulent activity, they'll unlock it for you - no problem!

You can bring your own phone as long as your phone's unlocked and compatible with the T-Mobile network.

It's also easy to transfer your existing mobile number. You'll just need a PAC code or PIN from your current provider.

9. Lycamobile phones

If you're interested in upgrading your phone, Lycamobile offers a small selection of cell phones but doesn't include any of the latest smartphones. But you can still purchase a new cell phone elsewhere if it's unlocked.

10. Lycamobile SIM card activation

You can easily purchase your Lycamobile SIM card online.

Once you've chosen your plan, it'll be sent straight to your door. And to activate your SIM card, you pop it into your phone and dial 622, and follow the instructions.
