Mint Mobile, which is owned by Ultra Mobile, offers several impressive talk and text, as well as data, plans that make avoiding them difficult - after all, they're currently some of the cheapest plans available in the market.
Mint Mobile's plans shine due to not only the available sales of said plans, but the general base prices of the plans. Furthermore, you can purchase plans in bundles - for instance, you can purchase a plan for one month, three months, six months, or 12 months, allowing you to save more money in the long run.
There is a total of three plans available, labeled by size: small, medium, and large. All three plans include unlimited talk, text, and data. However, you will not receive unlimited high-speed 4G data. Fortunately, you can purchase either 2GB, 5GB, and 10GB of data for a highly inexpensive monthly fee.
If you find yourself in need of more data or international roaming, then you'll probably want to take advantage of the data add-on and international roaming add-on. With the data add-on, you'll be able to add between 500MB and 3GB of data at any time you'd like. As far as international calling goes, you'll be able to add between $5 and $20 worth of minutes for your international calls.
So how does Mint Mobile actually work? First, you choose a plan, then you activate said plan. Then, you insert your SIM card into the device, so you can finally enjoy your plan. If you find yourself confused with the process, Mint Mobile's useful installation videos will guide you through step by step.
Mint's Phone Selection
What can you expect from Mint as far as the phone selection? Well, Mint Mobile supplies a small range of phones. Unfortunately, while what you can buy varies, you won't be able to select from a large pool of devices. For instance - and at the time of this writing - you'll be able to access three of the Blu series, the Samsung Galaxy S7, the Samsung Galaxy J3, and the Apple iPhone SE.
However, you won't be able to procure the latest Samsung Galaxy devices, any of the Samsung Galaxy Note phones, the Google Pixel series, or the latest Apple iPhones. In fact, many Android and iOS devices are missing from the lineup. So if you're looking for a new phone, you're better off purchasing one from a different carrier or from a retailer before bringing it to Mint Mobile.
To activate your Mint Mobile card, you'll need to enter the 11 digit activation code that is located on the back of the SIM card you receive on the activation page or via phone. This is located in the upper right-hand corner.
Need a SIM card for your talk and text plan? You'll receive one when you purchase a plan from Mint Mobile. However, you'll need to ensure that you're using the correct-sized SIM Card for your iPhone or Android.

While there has been conflicting information on tethering and mobile hotspot access, one representative has clarified the situation. "While you may be able to tether, as you said some customers are doing so, there will be throttled data speeds after your high-speed internet is gone. Depending on your plan, you will go from 4G to 128/kbps after your 4G data runs out."
In other words, it appears as if Mint Mobile doesn't care for tethering and mobile hotspot access, but they do include it as a feature.
Mint Mobile Coverage
