Is Red Pocket phone service any good?

YMMV

Red Pocket is good for a phone service but if you want high speed data you may want to look elsewhere. It's pretty slow compared to other services.

Speedy delivery

Was easy to activate my SIM card. Good prices and great customer service.

5 thumbs up

I tried Mint before Red Pocket and didn't have the best experience. Mint had good customer service but their cellular service was pretty bad. There were quite a few times where a call or text message never came in. Then I swapped to Red Pocket. Now I have no issues with receiving calls or texts. They have just as good customer service too.

Great coverage, great networt, great price!

Switched from VZ to Red Pocket CDMA Unlimited Everything 3GB plan Oct 2020. Only issue was the Personal Hot Spot was not activated. Customer Service corrected the problem in a short time. Since then - 10 months ago - I have had no issues. I am so pleased with the service that I'm going to purchase the same plan on ebay for $15 per month prepaid annually. Highly recommend Red Pocket Mobile.

Billed different amount every month! Buyer Beware

Absolutely terrible. The SIM cards are programmed to write the wrong APN settings to your phone (had a RP rep admit that on a recorded line) but the absolute deal breaker for me was that in the 6 months I had the service, I was billed a different dollar amount for the same level of service in the same state 6 months in a row. The service charges would range from $30 (the cost of the plan plus no taxes or fees) up to $31.70 per month and no one could address or understand that. Its really not about the few dollars and cents extra its the principal that this company clearly does not know or understand how to run a business. Port out completed on 8/16/21 back to AT&T and could not be happier! Plus my newer device benefits from 5G speeds that Red Pocket will never be able to deliver.

Nightmare porting number!! No customer service

I attempted to move my family of 5 from Cricket to Red Pocket. WHAT A HASSLE!! Several phones took multiple days to port out even though Cricket immediately confirmed release. One phone took a week to activate with NO SERVICE. No refunds were given for such a slow activation. Red Pocket forces you to buy one month of full price single service to activate the SIM (you must also buy) then pay another $30 fee if you wish to immediately add a phone straight to your family plan (and get the discounts). All in all I paid almost $300 to port my 5 lines to Red Pocket. This does not include the hours and hours spent trying to navigate the terrible website. Forget verbally talking to a real person. You only have the chat window option that is slooooooow at best. Watch and you will get an indication of the customer service you can expect in the "Not really gonna do anything" answer that will follow this review.

NOT RELIABLE

Wanted to use this service for my kid's phone, but service is NOT reliable, which is our number one priority. Now I have to look for another. What a waste of time.

I would give them less than one star...

You buy an "Unlimited" plan and it isn't unlimited at all... Dishonest, liars. If you don't like dealing with a dishonest company don't bother with this one. I thought a 1,000 minute and unlimited texting would be great for my preteen grandson. However they shut his entire phone down and then lied about the meaning of "unlimited "... Look it up in the dictionary Rip Pocket... And good luck trying to speak to a supervisor that speaks and understands english... I'm disgusted.

Doesn't always work!

I ordered the sim card & a year service off ebay.I had a cricket(att) compatable phone.I was looking to save some money.I had talked to a tech on the phone & twice on the chat on the internet. They made me put all kinds of codes in my phone, which was very complicated.Kept, telling me to turn off phone for 20 minutes without sim & then turn it back on.Nothing they had me do would work.I have went thru several phone services & none have been this complicated! Ultimately,I was told, if I try in the morning, again after taking the sim card out & back in,& it doesn't work,I may have to get another phone. My phone was just bought in 2020

Deals

Using Red Pocket GSMA (AT&T). Data speeds are noticeably slower than other carriers I’ve had. Coverage is good. Customer service is easy to reach but they can’t or won’t do much if you have an issue. They have sales/discounts a few times a year. I wouldn’t pay full price.

Aren't interested in getting new customers

Read about there service. Price sounded great and they claimed any phone will work with any network. They never send a Sim card even if you order next day service. I'm not sure if they're a real company. All positive reviews I assume are upper levels of their ponzi scheme. DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY

Zero support

After having the service for a few months started to not get calls and dropping calls could not even use the phone. Support was no help and had to contact Verizon and so my business line was down for more than a week.

SIM Card Delivery and Contacting Customer Service

Paid for 2-3 day priority shipping. Tracking stated label was created, but they couldn't be bothered to actually mail it. Spent hours with customer service trying to resolve the problem and was hung up on twice so I had to re-explain the problem multiple times. Ended up cancelling everything entirely. Very frustrating and will not get the time I spent back. If you can get it work out, great. Considering you can get better plans for $1-2 a mo, I would go elsewhere.

Data isn't unlimited

Don't believe Red Pocket! They're very misleading! The data is NOT unlimited. When you go over your data cap, you're not able to check anything: Twitter, Facebook, nothing!

Low-cost

Couldn't be a better service! Works perfectly at a low cost!

Great coverage, cheaper bill

I can't even tell that I switched over from Verizon! Except for a cheaper bill of course!

Customer service, prices

Good customer service, good prices, but low signal in some areas near me.

Perfect service

Perfect service! I get exactly what I'm paying for!

Huge savings, support

I felt that I was throwing away $85 every month for a service I barely use. I only used 1GB of data, if that. When I learned about Red Pocket I switched immediately! Support's great and I save hundreds every year.

Great deal

WOW! This is such a great deal! Can't believe they're selling these plans for so cheap!!!
