Is Spectrum Mobile phone service any good?

Lack of talented workers

Awful

They are money-grubbing SCAM ARTISTS!!

I signed up with Spectrum Mobile but they turned out to be too expensive, so I cancelled. I was told that I was responsible for the cost of the LG phone they gave me...about $6/month for 24 months. After making 2 payments, Spectrum took $131.99 out of my checking account, without my permission or knowledge. Their excuse was, when I moved they closed my account instead of transferring the service. This allowed them to take the entire price of the phone, rather than continuing the payment plan. When I asked them to reverse the transaction and put me back on the payment plan, they told me that the account was closed, so they can't release the funds back. I immediately called my bank to dispute the transaction. The most amazing part of this is, SPECTRUM ADMITTED THEY MADE A MISTAKE (should have been a transfer, not an account closure) AND THEY STILL WOULD NOT REFUND THE $131.99!!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS...ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS TAKE YOUR MONEY!!

Dishonest Sales Practices / NO SUPPORT

I was misled. I recorded the phone call of the sales person & was told that I had 14 days from the date I activate the phone after receiving it to try the service and if dissatisfied I could return the phone for a FULL REFUND. When I called to activate the phone I was then told that the 14 day trial started when they SENT the phone and NOT when I activate. The Customer rep told me this at the very beginning of the activation call because "Most people are confused of the trial period". So since I was clearly misled, I chose to send the phone back for the refund. They kept $50.00 of my refund (claimed it was restocking fee) plus $10.00 activation fee (which I never activated the phone). I ask the sales person before ever agreeing to try the service (I have a recording) WHAT AMOUNT OF MY INITIAL CHARGE ($148.17) WILL NOT BE REFUNDED IF i RETURN THE PHONE? I ask this question twice with the second time being after the sales person confirmed with their supervisor that the fee ($148.17) would be FULLY REFUNDED if I did not damage the phone and returned it within the trial period. They are intentionally misleading consumers.

Customer service is horrible

It is a nightmare to return a defective phone they gave you a 14 day grace period but during that time they tell you they will call you back within 24 and 78 hours and they take forever to call back and they usually call you when you can asnwer when you call them back they transfer you from one department to the other until you get tired of calling. It is a nightmare, I don’t recommend this company to anyone.

Ordered phone had a change of heart but continued to pay bills til phone was paid for and now they refuse to unlock phone I’ve been ripped off!!!

Expensive

Why would you use the mobile plan when the internet and tv is terrible. The internet is slow, cuts in and out same as the tv also they can’t fix it RIGHT. Plus it is so Expensive,Spectrum is the worst service and customer service.

This "so called mobil" had lied to my face!

Our experience was very f up They lied to my face over and over ,they charge me triple the cost amount for a sim card $110 after this f up basically they were so stupid to keep trying to stay with this stupid service.who ever is readind this stay the f off away from spectrum mobil I'd spoken with more than 26 so called profesional costumer service wich happend to know no s#i+ about what they're trying to sell you.they just took my money charge me triple for one sim card theres no explanation for this f up service.on july 21 2019 we order one sim card for one phone just for the try out,something that was going to cost only $24 and you get to be charge and extra $110 thats is f up stuff. LISTEN STAY AWAY FROM SPECTRUM!!

I buy a phone and they send me the wrong phone i call so many time to have it returned and its been 5 days now and not a fone call now i have to pay another phone bill because of spectrum and their lack of trust i dont need this fone mo more i jus want them to send me back my money and take there piece of shit fone spectrum is the worst ive come across in customer service

Everything, they do nothing but lie. Don't do it

Not connected to their Wi-Fi, eats up your data. Your suppose to be purchasing a new phone, like most are refurbished. Due a refund, good luck with that, been fighting for mine and still haven't gotten it. Other side of Spectrum isn't any better, they don't buy out your contract and then it ends up on your credit report.

Horrible execution of concept

I travel a lot throughout the USA. No matter where I am Spectrum mobile either does not work at all OR works intermittently. Intermittent service is most frequent which is hugely frustrating.

Tech staff is incapable of providing tech support

I tried to port my number out to Spectrum. First, the activation process took forever; I had to talk to a zillion different customer service representative, each of whom asked me the same excruriating validation questions and then asked me to do the exact same steps only to escalate me to a suprevisor. The supervisor called me once in the morning, I missed it. My chance was gone. The call back number took me back to where I started, explaining the same issue again and again to one customer service representative to another. Finally after days and hours I spent on the phone my mobile service was activated. But it did not end there because I realized my internet is not working. What happened? I spent another 3-4 days on the phone with a zillion different customer service representative to fix the issue until I finally spent more than 70 minutes with one of them who told me they had done everything they could and I should physically go to an Apple store for them to have a look at my phone. I have an Iphone XSMAX and I used it perfectly with another provider for months! They ended up escalating the issue to their supervisor and I am waiting for their call which may or may not happen within the next 72 hours. I cannot believe I left my previous provider to put myself into this situation. I wasted HOURS on the phone with Spectrum only to end up with no internet service and frustrated.

They don't care about the customers issues.

Buyer beware. Staff at store unable to get phone data transferred from old phone, no one new how to fix. Tried to cancel same day after hrs of frustration, first told would be charged restock fee, even though they couldn't fix the problem. They were supposed to send a return ship label, week went by, no label, called again, too many days went by they said, phone cannot be returned.Spoke with supervisor, who just said I choose to cancel, I cannot get money back, and they are not taking phone back. They are very persuasive about selling their service, but there will be no resolution for the customer no matter who you speak with. Don't fall for cheaper service, you get what you pay for!!! 1 star is too many for tham

Scam

Lied about plan Lied about caller ID Canceled my phone without my AUTHORITY as in "the number you have reached has been disconnected" Took forever to get it back on. They would not give my account #. Worse than the mob.

Lied about plans & extremely difficult 4 returns!

They are con artist with shady business practices. They’re not looking for a good business deal or loyal customer. Just a hit n run 1. Lied about plans and charges. 2. Did the bait and switch. 3. Spectrum uses same prices for different things to give sales rep more of an advantage in miscommunication. Returns are extremely difficult. 1. You call to ask to return. 2. They call you back during a 24 hours window. 2. If you miss it, you can’t call them back. 3. You must wait another 24 hour window. 4. Only two calls and an email from them, then you’re stuck. Unless you spend hours on phone with them. My experience with them is horrible. Besides all of the above, they missed the 24 hour window twice. Then when they called twice in an hour after they disconnected my service. Try yourself with them if you wish and then put your post next to mine.

the first line people generally are trying to help and are courteous. In my case each one of them (I have conversed with 6 or more of them) of them over past 6 weeks and every one could see the issue and the legitimacy of my screen. I had purchased a new iPhone x and returned it promptly by FED EX and Spectrum received it on May 30th. However they did not reverse the initial payments and have been continuing to bill me each month for installment payment for a phone that I do not have. the first line people were not authorized to take action and generated "tickets" ; the last one was #17324675. the immediate supervisors could not refund the money. They referred it to "tier 3" people and promised their will be a return call to me (I also provided my email address) within 72 hours. This happened 3 times and I have not received any call back or message from them.

Reliability

My wife and I are pleased with the call reliability, internet speeds, and free tethering! Definitely better than Sprint. The added spectrum hotspots is cool but most of them are slower than the LTE speeds. My only complaint is the lack of payment options. My wife and I typically pay for our phone bills separately. With Spectrum mobile there can only be one credit card on file for ALL mobile services. We both own our own business and typically run our mobile phone services through it for expensing. Not being able to do that sucks.
