Is Spectrum Mobile phone service any good?

horrible customer service

Spoke to a representative over the phone the misinformed me about the 14 day return policy on a new phone. He told me i have 15 days once phone is activated to see if i like the phone or not. he talked me into a cheaper phone the pixal 3a xl. The phone had technical problems, and is made of plastic. I called the 14th day to return my phone they told me the return policy started the day it was sent out. So basically i received my phone 5 days later and had 9 days to see if i liked the phone instead of the 15 days i was told. After trying to upgrade to a more expensive phone i had to speak to 3 reps that told me there policy window has closed and theres nothing they can do anymore about it. I told them to replay the recorded conversation and they said i needed a supena to listen to the call. I told them over and over again the conversation we had and how he misinformed me. So now im waiting on a call back days later for them to review the call. WOW dont use spectrum.

Customer service is terrible

I lost my voicemail and have been trying to figure it out with them an agent finally told me they would send me a new phone ( wrong !! ) senior agent said it was Apple’s problem real nice still working with them wish I never would’ve switched from US Cellular

Constantly having issues with having the ability to text one day and not being able to text the same people the next day. Called customer service and when we done doing what she suggested, lost everything, texts, pictures, contacts

Customer Service very helpful

Tech support/ customer service is great. I signed up online at spectrum mobile. I picked out my new Samsung S10 and then picked my plan. They emailed me a link to start my activation and port my number. It was quick AND easy. Tech support is great, helped me transfer my data from my old Samsung

WiFi hotspot

I've had this for 2 months on a 1Gig plan. I have never used 1gig with my previous provider, now they said I went over by 1 Meg and charged me $14 extra. WiFi access with them is even worse. It always 2G WiFi available but unable to authenticate. I wish I never switched to them. So now my smart phone is being used as a telephone. Turned off mobile data.

Costumer service is bad

Use the phone I’ve bought for one day,didn’t get any hotspot and I was charged $35.00 restocking fee plus charge $100.00 for the condition of the phone I only used for a day, how bad could It be?! I’m very disappointed.

If I could give Spectrum Mobile zero stars I would. I typically do not write reviews and I am quick to give companies grace but this company has been horrible from the start. If me writing a review will inform others of their HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE then I will. We have been a customer of theirs for about 6 months now and have yet to have a good experience with them. First off they have an autopay only option which is ridiculous. Not everyone chooses to pay bills that way and they did not inform us of that when we signed up. We did give them a card to pay for the first bill and to set up services and let it get charged the first couple months. When we called and told them we did not authorize for it to be automatically taken from our account they were rude and offered no help. They told us that is our only option and there was nothing they could do. We called and asked if our payment date could be moved from the 4th of the month to the 10th, they told us no. Did not offer an explantation just told us no. After my husband spoke with multiple managers who were incompetent and offered us the same answers they ended the phone call. My husband has called in a handful of times and we have been told something different every single time. We were told that they charge the card every 20 days, then we were told that it is not every 20 days and that our bill is not due until the 16th? (So why are you charging my card on the 4th) then this most recent time they told us your bill isn't due until the 14th we just always charge cards 10 days early! Which is so dishonest. If our bill isn't due until the 14th then why could you not change our billing date to the 10th? We called to make sure they would not run our card on the 4th because we needed to wait until my husband got paid on the 10th. Everyone has a month where they need to have a bill run on a different day right? Someone told us that they would not charge the card and it will run on the 16th well guess what they charged it anyways! We called in to explain our frustration and have them reverse the charge because we did not authorize it and they told us no we will not reverse the charge and if you are unhappy you can bring your phones back in. Literally their words. This company has horrible customer service, the worst actually from any company I have ever worked with. They have absurd "policies: that apparently their employees and managers do not even know because you will get told something different every time you call in and get no help. Please do not get involved with this company, the promise so many things and we were so excited to do business with them but a company who does not what customer service is should not be in business at all.

Already have Spectrum cable, internet and tv so went on line to try to get cell service, as current carrier is Verizon, and Spectrum piggybacks on their towers. Can't Do it on line, live chat said I had to go to a store, which is 23 miles away. So went to store and learned mobile is separate account. Rep seemed very knowledgeable, told me I had to get new phone as they don't use htc. Son is on my plan, could use a new phone; he lives five hours away. Not to worry, phones will be shipped to you, and he can activate it whenever. Husband needs to be in iPhone to get new sim card but can't do that until the two new phones are activated. Was still going to switch because price was better than what I currently pay Verizon and coverage should be about the same. The rep ran my credit card for the downpayment on the phones and initial activation fee and told me to expect the phones via fed ex in two days. That was a week ago. No phones, but no charge to my credit card either. Tried calling and the on line chat, and was told the account number the rep had given me was not valid and I needed to go to the store. Went to the store today and they could find no record of my purchase last week. Said we had to start all over and this time they would have to enter the info 3 times because there were 3 lines. This rep kept asking for his supervisor's help. Midway through this debacle he said there was a problem, and brought his supervisor over. She told me my social security number had been locked for fraud and they would have to open the account in my husband's name, and transfer our existing internet, etc. to his name I order to get service. At this point I was more concerned about my SSN, so we left. Researched the "lock " and found there isn't one. I don't think they know what they're doing, either on line, phone, or in person. Neighbor just switched but has yet to activate so I'm going to wait to see how her experience is before considering a switch.

Terrible LTE service despite their claims

Low price is just what they say it is.

Screwups in Online phone purchase and later store purchase to get the phone I originally ordered. CS did later refund incorrect billing after being made aware of the problem. I had 20 years of good 2G-GSM-LTE service until ATT took over in my last year with them. ATT ruined mobile service in my home area. Started Verizon service until the switch to Spectrum could be made. Verizon service was very good until the last two months before switching to Spectrum. I now have the S10+ (much better than my 5G Verizon phone), and while the service signal is the same my monthly bill is $20 lower. Once the phone is paid off, the monthly mobile bill will only be $14 total as I have Spectrum triple play in my home. Spectrum already saved me over $100 every month over what I previously used in Directv, landline, and DSL service. Now I'm saving big time in mobile service. All my Spectrum services are comparable and better to what I had in the past - just a whole lot less in dollars!

No one to really help with customer service

I asked for an investigation to open as I’m being charged $500 for a phone I exchanged after having for 2 weeks. Someone switched my phone with an old damaged one and no one is taking my claim serious.

My phone was hacked

Someone was hacking my messages, a factory reset didn't help, changing passwords didn't help. I went back to my old carrier and the problem went away

Lower Price and Much More Data and Same Coverage

I just switched this week. I was a long time verizon wireless customer and charter/charter spectrum customer. In both cases it was basically because Charter/Spectrum is the only high speed internet provider in my neighborhood and Verizon is also the most reliable wireless provider in my area by far. I had previously purchased an iPhone XR and paid up front. (I bought it from Apple directly.) Spectrum mobile uses Verizon's towers so coverage is just as good as Verizon. My new monthly bill for *unlimited* data is $45 on one line. I was paying nearly $70 for 5GB with Verizon not to mention all of their ridiculous fees or more $ if you exceeded your data limit. If you already use spectrum and your cell service is through Verizon you should look into this. You have to have I think an iPhone 7 and later. Spectrum sent me a SIM card and charged a 1 time $10 activation fee. Simple. I put in the new SIM card and the phone was ready to go in 5 minutes.

Drop calls or unable to hear caller

They claim they use the same Verizon network, but that’s just not true. I had Verizon and never had a dropped call or issue. My wife still has Verizon and I can put them side by side and it is obvious that she has 4 bars and I have 2. Typically people tell me they cannot hear me “you’re breaking up “ ALL THE TIME!! It might be good some day if they get coverage but not there yet. Also don’t like being lied to

Customer Service

I ordered phones to start service. I paid. The very next day, before the order shipped, I called to cancel. They said it was too late in the process. The supervisor said that I should have called 2 hours after I ordered. He ttold me that when I get the shipping confirmation, call Spectrum and they can put a "Return to Sender" so I wouldn't get the package. When I got the notification, I called Spectrum. I was now told that it's too late and I would just to sign for it and take it to a Spectrum store. The store said they don't take phones. I called Spectrum again. I was told to take it to a UPS store. There was no shipping label in the box. I called Spectrum again and I was told they stopped putting shipping labels in the box after May 25. I talked to a supervisor. Now I have to wait to get a phone call so they can email me a shipping label. I should receive a call in 24 to 48 hours. They got some mess with them. I will never use Spectrum Mobile. I talked to at least 7 people and they all had a different way to fix the problem. I fell victim to the Spectrum Mobile scam. I even emailed the Customer Service Manager and she will not respond. I can imagine what I would have to deal with if I had decided to go with Spectrum...

Spectrum is new to the industry and has not had time to put everything into place,

FRUSTRATION!!! Terrible service

Phone menu takes and hour. You can't return product to a store, You can't get new product from a store. The phone people hijack you and then you are stuck with everything by Fedex. You have to stay home THE ENTIRE DAY!! There is no delivery window. The service might be great by the time you get it, but you will PAY with your time, frustration, and "oh, we can't do that."
