Is Spectrum Mobile phone service any good?

They exist.

I wanted to use Spectrum Mobile for cell phone service. They required that I changed cell phones. I didn't want to change phones but they guaranteed me over the phone that transferring information from the old phone to the new phone would be easy. When I got the phone I used their instructions to transfer phone information, it didn't work. I called them, nobody could help me. So now I’m beginning to realize there is a competence problem for the service I had purchased. They assured me that if a drove to a half hour to Spectrum (location Geneva NY) they could do the transfer for me. 100% guarantee over the phone. When I got there they immediately told me they couldn't do it and I'd have to drive another half hour to a different store. They didn’t have to think about they immediately knew they couldn’t help me. So what kind of information is the customer representative on the phone providing me. More mal-information from Spectrum. At that point I was fed up. So I told that didn't want the phone didn't want the service and was canceling. They protested but I wasn't interested and I walked out and left the new cell phone at the Geneva Spectrum. I called Spectrum and told them I wanted out. Although they canceled the phone service they weren't willing to accept the physical phone as returned. They have the phone but still want to charge me. So now I’m ready to fight.

They lie, and dont work weekends

My phone was stolen and they recommended I turn off the service until the new phone came. It came in 2 days and they said it would be on in 30 to 60 minutes. A day later I find the real truth is only Tier 3 supervisor can turn it on and they don't work weekends. So you have to wait 72 hours. They are new at this, their staff is insufficient and untrained. How a company could not have a supervisor working on a weekend in the entire country is unbelievable. I was recommending this service and I'm taking it back. You get what you pay for. On top of that We usually use less than a gig of data. We've had the service 2 weeks and the claimed we already used 3 and charged me another 14.00.

Everything

Want with spectrum to lower costs of bills. Got the first phone, but wanted to switch to a bigger phone. Was told to send the first phone back when I received the bigger phone. As another person I work and most times my days are held over at work. I still return the first phone. When my bill was due I couldn’t pay, and my phones were suspended. When I called to get answers, I was told that I needed to pay$ 1,089.00 to get the phones working again. I’m like why do I need to pay that amount. Was put on hold. The woman returned and said for the first phone. I stated that the phone was returned, this woman tells me it wasn’t returned in the time frame. Really??? So you want me to pay for a phone that I don’t have and you are still charging me for the phones and plan that I have now, but is no use to me because I can’t use the phones that I have now until I pay for a phone that I don’t have? Confused much. This want on for three hours with the end result of me ending the mobile services because they couldn’t solve the problem. The worst was when they was trying to disconnect my internet service by sending my calls to that department when I wanted the mobile service ending only. They still charge my card on fill even when I disconnect services, for services I no longer have. This company sucks.

everything

total nightmare, i'll make this short as possible, sent 2 iphonex's , both where given the same numbers, but nether works, went to their store and they cannot do a thing, came home and called support, went through 4 operators so far with 20+ hrs involved, the sim cards are not correct the imei numbers are not valid, the iccid numbers are wrong, currently i have a ticket in and have to wait another 48hrs for them to return my call from tier3 service, and was last told i may need to ship both phones back, and wait to receive 2 new phones sometime next week, in the mean time I've lost 2 days of work, and will not be able to work until my phone is restored, i had my old number ported and it is a business phone i rely on to work, no one there knows what they are doing, they each say this is a new problem to them and do not know how to solve it

Price

I don’t believe half of the negative reviews listed. Simply put I went from paying $98/month plus whatever fees Verizon threw at me for whatever reason to Paying nothing more than $45/month. The customer experience in the store and on one call was exceptional. I received everything I was told I would for the amount I was told. I ended up going from Verizon to Verizon for a much lower fee. I have experienced no drops or any of the other nonsense others here claim. Spectrum works great for me. I recommend them if you want unlimited data (up to 20GB then you get reduced to a lower speed) for a low price of $45/month (price includes all fees and taxes) then it’s worth checking out Spectrum.

No problems ! Great service !!

Spectrum Mobile has been great !!

Customer svc sucks

People... please.... PLEASE, understand what an 'MVNO' is. It makes ZERO sense to say service is worse on Spectrum vs Verizon because Spectrum LITERALLY uses Verizon's network. Any downgradge in quality is probably hardware or location related. Now, I don't disbelieve that Spectrum sucks, of course they do, but I do not believe someone who claims the same exact network is worse than itself.

customer service

Went to Spectrum location. Ordered my phone, was told it would be shipped via FedEx, was told that I could have my phone shipped to a pick up location once I got the tracking number. Was unable to do this online. Called FedEx, who told me that I could not do this due to delivery restrictions from Spectrum, and to call Spectrum and they could change it. Spectrum stated they only follow FedEx delivery rules and to call FedEx back, and they could hold the phone at the FedEx office. FedEx told me that they could not hold the phone at their location until 3 delivery attempts, and that I could not select a FedEx pickup location unless Spectrum told them they could. Called Spectrum back, told me that I could pick it up after the first delivery attempt at the FedEx shipping location, which is a 30 min drive away. Told them to cancel my delivery, they stated they could not do that, but that after 3 delivery attempts, if I did not pick up the phone it would be returned to them and my ordered would be canceled and my full payment would be refunded. That part remains to be seen. If this is the kind of service that I get even before I receive the phone, I don't even want to know what the service would be like once I got it. Sent delivery instructions to FedEx to return to sender.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

ASK TO TALK TO RETENTION. After 40 minutes of being transferred around, they were the only people who actually helped me.

Starting with the company from the beginning

We took our phones to spectrum and even bought a new iPhone from them at full price. We were told there was no contracts and simply pay off the phone and it’s yours and no etf. We paid the phone in full after less than 30-days and were told then that we had to be with them a full sixty days and pay two $25 payment fees on the phone before we could have it paid off and unlocked. The company refunded our full payment until the sixty days went by. We paid the phone off in full once more and then literally had to spend hours to get them to u lock our phone. It took three escalation managers to fix the issue and that still required a request to get corporate involvement for them to stop holding the phone hostage. If that’s not a forced contract I don’t know what is. We cancelled all of our services. Terrible customer service and literally false communication and representation by the staff! Buyer beware and don’t go here.

Everything

Switched from Sprint to Spectrum expecting better cell service (signal) at my home. It actually was worse. You name it -- everything from calls NOT going through to dropped calls experienced during every single call. Tried to switch back to Sprint (because Spectrum is really this bad; Sprint was much better)... and was told I had to remain with them (Spectrum) at least 60 days before my phone could/would be unlocked. I had paid Spectrum my phone balance in full and was still told I had to wait 60 days (even though I wasn't under contract). NOT AT ALL recommended. So basically, I'm not under "contract" - I have paid my full balance to Spectrum for my phone, BUT YET have to still remain with Spectrum for 60 days. Absurd.

COLOSSAL INCOMPETENCE

I switched from Verizon as part of a package with internet service. After MANY calls and several technical visits I have neither. I can't back up my Verizon phone since I STILL don't have internet AFTER A MONTH!!!! Now they won't give me a credit for the month without service without cancelling the insurance on the phone. Next stop: ATT to use the $400 voucher I have from them.

liars

A company that will not work with you over an issue caused by their lying. Shame on them for falsifying charges, and saying it is all your own fault. Cheater, liars, corrupt! They have a 1 rating for a reason. You will have nothing but problems and stress! Don't do it. Go to My Verizon.

Everything else especially customer service.

Bottom line is I took out insurance on my phone and without notifying me or getting my permission they cancelled while doing some other stuff on my account. I only found this out when I lost my phone and tried to replace it. They told me I took too long to let them know they screwed up and it was my responsibility to do so.

Save a ton without changing my habits

I was with Verizon and knew I could bring my phone over to Spectrum Mobile. The agent at the store was generally efficient at getting me switched, and it is working great. From the reviews here I was ready problems, but there were none. The agent thoroughly went over all charges (first month and activation fee). The attention given to understanding charges was actually a bit excessive, maybe in response to some of the reviews I have read here. The only negative I expect will be loss of roaming, but that is not a concern in my home area. Free Wifi calling makes up for that.

Says unlimited but it’s not

I have 4 lines I ported over. I have unlimited on all my phones data . But yet at 20 gigs it stops almost completely . And I have to wait to get home to do anything. I go to school and occasionally have to do homework while I’m at work . So i have to use hotspot , that uses my data which because there is a data cap it will not load most of the time . I wish I would have stayed with att

Lied about cost of service

Spoke to 2 different sales people. Was told I'd get 2 new phones for switching from Verizon. That was the first lie. After 4 separate phone calls the same sales person confirmed exactly how much my monthly bill would be. That was the 2nd lie, Well, not only did she register me for the incorrect service but she also neglected to tell me that the phones were an additional cost/month, even though I'd been told by two people I'd get the phones for switching. That was the third lie, preceded by the mistake of signing me up for the wrong service and not the one I had confirmed with her. Never once was the cost of the phones mentioned, even when I asked twice in one phone call what my monthly bill would be. That was omitted. I was also charged a huge set up fee, which also wasn't mentioned. Spent 8-10 hours on the phone with Spectrum mobile and her supervisor trying to straighten it all out. I switch back to Verizon after 3-4 days. Unbelievable that what I thought was a legitimate business just lied and pulled a total bait and switch.

Nothing

I paid 42 bucks up front for this crap. After 5 days, they couldn't activate, I returned the phone & spectrim went(without my knowledge) and took out another 103.27.say I scratched the phone that I never used. Had to go back to previous provider. All n all I was jipped for almost 200.00 clams.please hear me good, "Don't" go for it. Cheaper is not always better. Glad I'm gone.

EVERYTHING

No one is on the same page, to get you verified is worst the calling your bank. They lie to just get a sale... Everytime i have called i have got a different answer, i am trying to return my phone (within the 14 days) and its a nightmare. Also i spoke with a supervisor to ask how do you correct this problem with your sales people... Her response unfortunately there isn't a way because we cant even see who sole you this plan.

Price

I called to sign up. They sent me SIM cards for my existing phones (iPhone 7plus) which were easy to change. I followed the activation prompts and was switched immediately. I have had it over two weeks now and commute 3 hours a day. My call quality is actually better than my previous carrier (Verizon)! I used to pay $140 a month for our two phones. Now I pay $59 for exactly the same use! I was nervous about switching because I am not a fan of TWC, but if Spectrum improves that too I am in!
