Is Spectrum Mobile phone service any good?

Customer service

They arbitrarily changed my payment date and told me there was nothing they could do. Changed it sixteen days earlier. Just out the blue. I wouldn't recommend them. At all. Customer service pretty much told me "too bad". Don't waste your time with customer service or spectrum at all.

Customer service

I was in the process of moving and called to have cable transferred. I was very hesitant since I have personally experienced Charter cable increasing prices unreasonably after so called promotions end. But, hey the salesperson was enticing and it SEEMED like I would save money. So, I purchased 3 iPhones 8 for start up fee at $332. The same person that transferred services ordered the phones for me. She was aware of my move in date. (Two weeks from date of ordering the phones.) So, carelessly she sends my phones to an address that I will not be at for two weeks. I was unaware of this until I received a confirmation the following day with incorrect address. I called to have addressed corrected and was told that since I don’t have identification with new address I will not be able to get phones and they will have to send phones back; which will take two weeks. I was told I could get a refund but, will have to wait until phones are returned. There were no credits applied for this and I was without phones because I switched services. So I had to use another provider and spend another $200. It has been 2 weeks and I have only received $199. I was told I would get the remainder in the mail in another two weeks “or so.” Who has money like this period especially when trying to move. And not to mention the customer service. They were rude.

Coverage and customer service

I previously had Verizon. I had called in to drop my cable and just continue with only WI-FI. They sales agent and I spoke in depth about the unlimited plan. I was paying about $100/month with Verizon for unlimited. He told me he could save me money that Spectrum was only $45 for unlimited and it was not an introductory rate. I also asked him about coverage. He guaranteed me that they are on Verizon towers and my coverage should be the same. Stupidly, I took him at his word. I paid $126 right then and he sent me a new Apple IPhone XR. He didn’t enroll me in unlimited like we spoke. I received an email a few days after I activated my service saying I had used 80% of my 1st GB and it is $14/GB. I called in. Very upset. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The agent assured me she opened up an escalated ticket and a supervisor would call me back with in a day or two. Well...it’s been a week and no call and besides that, coverage SUCKS! It is very spotty. I had Verizon for 8 years and rarely had any trouble with coverage. I drive for Uber and I have lost at least 10 rides because of dropped coverage. I called in today and the agent said the supervisor switched me to the Unlimited plan. I asked why nobody called me as promised. I told her I wanted to go back to Verizon and they need to credit me and take back the phone. She argued with me and told me it was over 14 days - which was actually yesterday. I said I had called a week ago well within the 14 days and she argued with me that I only had called in about the plan. I got tired of arguing with her and asked to speak to a supervisor. She said she would connect me. I waited 10 minutes and finally hung up! I’m so over Spectrum and their crappy coverage, customer service and misleading sales practices.

Horrible customer service. The worst!

Transferred to 8 different people on two separate calls to fix a lost phone issue! No one knows what they are doing.

They sent me defective phones, LG 4 stylus

Absolutely the worst ever seriously, they sent me defective phones I sent them back within a few days they sent me pictures of phones that had like a veneer covering over them to make them look like they were scratched and charged me $200 extra I promise I am not making this up I have the pictures to prove it!,,,,,,, please use another service you'll do yourself a favor I'm telling you I was warned by several people plus the bad reviews and went against it and literally paid for it so far I'm disputing it but we'll see how that goes? They are the worst absolute liar cheating company ever!

customer service

I simply called to get information about their service for my fiancee and me. I called on two seperate occasions and the custome service reps were downright rude. I told them upfront that i was just calling for info as I am currently on the Verizon prepay plan. Both times the reps kept pushing me to buy more. I explained that I was trying to reduce my bill, not increase it. The first one hung up on me and on the second call I finally got so frustrated that I just said nevermind...thank you...goodbye. So glad after reading all these reviews that I didn't go with them. We each have unlocked S7's and brought them to Verizon prepay. Our total bill is $78 per month for 5 G's each...think I'll stay here and just upgrade the phone seperately as needed from a third party.

Staff not knowledgeable

I'm a Spectrum cable/internet customer and went into their store to switch my mobile service from Verizon. Super-nice sales people and seemed to have good prices. But...the system has problems allowing you to use a device you already own. The salesperson checked my device (a Galaxy S8) at the store and said it was compatible with Spectrem service. I signed up for the service, and they transferred my number from Verizon, only to find out that my phone would not work on their network. After speaking to the store manager, I was told the problem was a "known issue" with S8 phones from Verizon and T-Mobile. Would have been nice if the sales person told me that before he deactivated my phone and moved my number from Verizon! Of course Spectrum was unable to restart my Verizon service, so I had to spend another hour at a Verizon retailer as they tried to get my phone number back from Spectrum. I'm sticking with Verizon now!

They exist

The only reason I gave them 1 star is that I was worred that if i tried to give them zero it would show as blank. They deserve zero stars or negative stars if that were possible. Over half of their customer service people are incompetent morons. I was given false and contradictory information which cost me a great deal of time and aggravation. Their service was so bad that I'm in a dispute with them right now over billing. I ready to do with battle with them, it's not about money anymore is about service. DO NOT USE Spectrum

waited over 20 minutes to ask the question" Do I qualify for Spectrum Mobile?" Put on hold then went the "robot routine" w/voice activated menu the a real person came on and said he could not hear me then he hung up

Scam data charges n don’t credit!!

I have Spectrum internet at home with WiFi , paying 181.00 !!! We don’t stream TVs it’s me and my autistic mentally challenged son. His phone doesn’t leave home, yet MIRACULOUSLY!!!!Every month they CHARGE atleast 3 to 5 G of overages so a 14/ Mo is coming out to 63-85.00!!! They have ZERO explanation on why??? And refuse credit!!! So I pay them 69.99 for 100M of Internet and WiFi so their mobile phone that shows connected every day , is claiming to be “ off the WiFi”!!! It’s technically IMPOSSIBLE!!! But what’s worst reps only tell you you used the phone!! NO S**T!!! I bought it to be used!! Not to pay to be under Spectrum umbrella and are making up imaginary data charges that SHOULD NOT be happening!! Plus they pull it automatically from your checking so a 23.00 bill can be 63.84, 83.56, 97.88 and you can’t get credit!!! It’s a SCAM to force you to go UNLIMITED!!!

Policies and excecution is terrible

Had a poor purchasing experience. Spent 1-1/2 hours on the phone, and then was required to send pictures of driver license and utility bill to confirm my identity. I am a long time existing customer who called to purchase an additional mobile line. I had to give my full soc. security number three times on the phone, and have full Spectrum cable and internet service at the address they required confirmed, Really??

They stole my money.

They fraudulently described their service to sell it. They admitted this, then by the time I was able to get away from their service they took me for $1500, and you have no recourse. Nobody at Spectrum cares one bit about it either. They just collect your money and expect you to like it.

Everything!

I left Verizon because spectrum wireless advertises that it uses Verizon's cell towers. I also asked about porting my iwatch and was told no problem. Spectrum doesn't service iwatches. Your voice messages come through 30 to 45 minutes after the message is left. I would frequently get a high pitched noise during my call making me hang-up and call the person again. I ported my number back to Verizon after 6 months with Spectrum and found out that Spectrum would email me an unlock code for my phone. I was in limbo without cell service for 3 days. Please don't make the same mistake I made. Don't use Spectrum Wireless. You will regret it!

No knowledge on everything

My 1st phone call was met with constantly being put on hold to get answers that turned out either wrong or missing vital information. I refused insurance because my phone was so inexpensive it was not needed. On receiving my phone it was a piece of junk. I then requested to trade in my phone and things rapidly went bad. They sent the phone then didn't. They resent the new phone that cost 800 dollars more than the first only to find out I couldn't put insurance on a 1000 dollar phone because I refused the insurance on my initial 200 dollar phone. I refused delivery then spent the next 3 weeks trying to get my money back. No one knew how to fill out the paperwork to return the money and instead of trying to correct the problem they decided to ignore it till I would call them inquiring where my money was. After approximately 30 calls and 4 1/2 hours on the phone in one day I finally received my money. The phone service from Verizon in excellent as expected but when you talk to a Spectrum representative do believe a word they say. This is not a reflection of the representative but to the poor training they received and unfortunately most of the supervisors are also struggling to give the same answer out of multiple attempts. I'm not alone . My neighbor ordered her phone and a week later after not receiving her phone a representative only could find out that the order never was accepted. After 2 1/2 hours and 3 more orders it turned out the phone that was ordered was out of stock and the sales rep had no way to confirm this. After ordering a different phone the order was processed and she received your phone. Please let Spectrum representatives learn from their mistakes and place your order with Spectrum in about a year. I'm guessing Spectrum will have a huge turnover with the employees for a while. The monthly premium is good at least!

90% MISINFORMATION!

FROM THE FIRST REP I RECIEVED WRONG INFORMATION ABOUT THE GIG PLAN AND HOT SPOTS. THEY TOLD ME I CAN CONNECT TO HOT SPOTS ANYWHERE. NOT TRUE! THE SPECKS I WAS GIVEN ABOUT THE PHONE WERE NOT TRUE ALONG WITH MANY WRONG DETAILS ABOUT THE PLAN. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR A MONTH. I ORDERED ANOTHER PHONE AND NOW YOU ONLY HAVE ABOUT 9 DAYS TO CHECK YOUR PHONE OUT TO SEE IF IT WORKS WELL. THEY ALSO START CHARGING YOU FOR PHONE SERVICE WHEN YOU ORDER YOUR PHONE EVEN THOUGH IT TAKES 3 TO FIVE DAYS TO GET THE PHONE. I WAS TOLD YOU CAN TURN OFF YOUR DATA, THAT IS NOT TRUE! THEY ARE HORRIBLE ABOUT GIVING THE CORRECT INFORMATION. THANK GOD A FEW OF THEM KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT, BUT AS MY MOTHER SAID, IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS.

It’s a catch to your bill

I was on the $14gigs plan and they told me I went over $1051.58 in two months. I’m like how is that? When called to see customer service was rude and nasty. Spoke to a manager after 14 tries and the manager was just as rude and nasty as the customer service representative. They refuse to help me and told me it was nothing that they could do. The price they wanted me to pay was the cost of the cell phone I had purchased. I won’t go back to them our recommend there service.

EVERYTHING

I switched to spectrum mobile after having the same phone service for 5 years and never had a problem, I paid $50 a month for unlimited everything spectrum Mobile will all together be getting $400 just this month!!!! I'm switching back ASAP

Bad reps and managers

If you want to be robbed go ahead. I returned the 4 phones after their inspector checked one got 35 restock fees the other they took pictures saying i sent the phone back damaged. Which is not true and only after the fact they said i should have been advised to take pictures of the phone. With that its my word against their pictures of a phone that was in a case with screen protector and used for a few days. Negative stars are need for reviews because some companies need to be shut down, boycotted. I dont want to see a mail coming to my house from that company. I am changing my tv service and my internet and hopefully in the near future i hear of a class action lawsuit against them.

Poor customer service.

I got a call about switching over to Spectrum. I told the rep I need 5 lines so she said get the 4 lines after receiving the 4 phones call back or she will call me to get the 5th. Bare in mind she put me on hold to get a supervisor input on how I can get the 5th line and this is what she said the supervisor told her to do. When I got the 4 phones I called Spectrum for my 5th line only to be told that is not there policy. After back and forth I decided to foolishly activate the 4 lines and keep one line with another provider. After 3 days I realized that Spectrum is not at all cheaper. Disregard the 1 line I kept with the other provider. With 4 lines at spectrum I would be paying far more than what I was paying with my old provider for 5 lines. With that I decided to cancel after 3 or 4 days and sent back the phone I barely used. When I got the phones all went into a phone case with screen protectors. Now I am being charged 350 for damages on one phone. I cant see how all the phones being in case with screen protection and only one has damages. And apparently my payment. I have had to call over and over to find out where my refund was. 1st they inform me that the phone was damaged and I would not get my money 2nd I spoke with a manager I insisted I used the phone for less than a week the phone they are claiming was my husband's in a case with screen protection yet the other phones for my daughters in case and screen protection has no damages. Now Spectrum has pictures of the phone and I should have taken pictures of the phone before sending them. I told them I was never told to take pictures of the phones. I was told to take pictures of the box with the fedex return label. They are outrageous I wish I sent those phones back as they told me I couldn't get a 5th line. Oh and when I started switching back to my old provider and I called for my number that is when a fifth line was going to magically appear. Customer service is lost. I asked if I can bring my own phone was told it is not an option. Found out that is not true. Asked if I can get a plan for 3GB was told no until. I am looking right across my screen seeing 3GB and 5GB. Was told I could get a 5th line that was bullshit to get me there and trap me. Now I am being charged 275.33 for a damaged phone and still dont know what happened with my refund payment of 396.67. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Impossible to work with

I've been a faithful subscriber (and former employee) of Verizon for over a decade, but switched to Spectrum Mobile after retiring. I've had 5 lines forever and never had a late payment, yet when Spectrum ran my credit I was only approved for 4 lines. No leeway. They don't want to help me with the fifth line so now I still keep one line on Verizon, costing me an additional $60 monthly for one line! Plus since they use Verizon network they get lower priority on calls than Verizon, making it more challenging to get service in metro areas during busy times. WISH I NEVER SWITCHED!
