Is Spectrum Mobile phone service any good?

Got SIM cards today, no service at all now!

Was to be a “super easy” set up, 3 hrs later and I now have no phone service and am told there is an outage, “spectrum gets the worst of Verizon if there is an issue and we get shut down so they keep service”. Run!!!!

Not worth $45 dollars at all

Recently switched from cricket to spectrum to save 15 dollars biggest mistake of my life. Spectrum service doesn't work inside a building. Loading speeds aren't 5G. YouTube buffers as soon as you're out of major cities. Scared to be stranded between cities. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

not good communication

We received a phone from spectrum, took phone out to charge it, my husband changed his mind and wanted to stay with the Mobil service we already had, sent phone back , and we were told it had a scratch therefore we were charged to pay the full amount of the phone. Very disappointed with their phone service.

No problems at all

I get great service in remote areas. I have had no problems. This is the deal I was looking for.

Spectrum mobile over a $1000 from me.

A Spectrum mobile agent told me about a 4 iphone discount program through their service. The agent told me that I would get unlimited data with that plan. The agent told me that the deposit is $250. The agent also told me that I would only have to pay about $100 a month after that 1 time deposit. I got the 4 iphones in the mail and the day that I was going to set up those iphones, all of this happened: I was going to set up the iphones but before I set up the phones, I found out that the service doesn't have unlimited data. I called Spectrum mobile and told them what had happened and the agent that I talked to over the phone that time told me that the plan that I was offered through Spectrum mobile doesn't have unlimited data. The agent told me that the plan that I was offered actually had unlimited hotspot instead of unlimited data and that it is an additional $15 for every GB of data that is used each month. I knew that my family and I couldn't afford that. I had even told my 2 youngest kids which were ages 12 and 13 at the time about those iphones and they were very disappointed. That same day that I got those iphones in the mail, tried to set them up, found out that I was lied to about certain details regarding that plan, etc. I told the agent that I can't afford that and that I would like to return the iphones and get my $250 deposit if possible. The agent told me that the iphones can be returned and that I will get my $250 deposit back. The agent told me that I will have to do certain steps to put the iphones back in their boxes and I said okay. The agent told me what to do to package the iphones back up and I did exactly what the agent told me to do in the order that the agent told me to do it in. The agent was able to send a shipping label so that I can take the package with all 4 iphones which were all in perfect condition to the shipping store. Spectrum mobile received the iphones and said that all 4 iphones were in horrible condition and sent me pictures of phones that literally looked like they had been used for at least 10 years. They kept taking outrageous amounts of money out of my credit card which is through my bank. I called Spectrum mobile and they did not try to fix the issue at all. They stole all of that money. I called my bank after they had taken out over $800 from my credit card within 48 hours after they had received the literally perfect condition iphones. I told my bank that they are scamming me which is the truth. They told me that I am going to have to get a new credit card issued and they are going to have to void the credit card that I had then immediately so I said okay and to do that. They also said that they are going to put a stop on them and void them from getting more money from my account and I said yes that is good. They put a 90 day thing on my account and said that they only have 90 days to try to get any more money from my account or to try to put a claim on my account. They did get over $1000 from my account because of the scam that they did with those iphones. Do not trust Spectrum Mobile! They scammed me and stole over $1000 from me.

Awful Customer Treatment

Signed up 3 lines for the $45 unlimited plan. Spectrum then lowered the price to $29. When we called customer service and asked for the new rate we were told the new rate was only for new customers. Whenever Verizon lowered its rates existing customers were allowed to get the lower rate. Not with Spectrum! This is a very bad business practice. The spectrum service was OK but for some odd reason our phones had trouble working on Wi-Fi at home which was never a problem with Verizon. When we told Spectrum’s customer service that we were going back to Verizon we were told “that’s your choice.” No budge on the new rate. But we were told with a little effort you could get the new rate. “All you need to do is deactivate on the last day of the billing cycle which will allow you to re-up as new customers after 24 hours.” The service agent makes at have taken our statement as we wanted to deactivate our account because Spectrum deactivated our phones on the last day of our billing cycle. We were able to get into a Spectrum store the next day after we figured out what was happening. Unfortunately the salesperson at the store said there is no way to sign up as new customers until at least 30 days later. Another salesperson stepped in and called Spectrum who reiterated that we could sign up as new customers based on the billing cycle info above. But you have to wait two days to sign back up at the lower rate and that we would have to come back the next day. That fruitless trip cost us an hour and a half of our time. The next day we were at the Spectrum store at 10:00am. Our salesperson was very helpful but when he called Spectrum he was told we could not sign up as new customers. The salesperson hung up and called back. This time he was told that yes indeed we could sign up as new customers at the new rate. But we would likely have to get new phone numbers. No worries because an hour or so later he could reassign our old numbers to our phones. Two hours into the process the salesperson realized one of the phones (all of which are paid for) was locked by Spectrum. He unsuccessfully tried many tricks with SIM cards to unlock the locked phone. Another call to Spectrum to unlock. But, another 24 hour wait. This adventure was 3 1/2 hours and 3 days without phones. The next day we went back to Verizon and signed up for our old and more expensive plan. At least Verizon knows what they are doing. DO NOT FALL FOR THE ALLURE OF SPECTRUM’S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE PRICES!!!!! YOU WILL REGRET GOING TO SPECTRUM.

I can’t believe I left AT&T for this

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT pick up this service. Use AT&T or Verizon. I decided to give this a try here in Orlando. After my 30GB were used, my speeds slowed immensely, which is terrible because I do Uber. I tried switching back to AT&T because of this. I paid off the new phone I got and did all of the steps necessary. Spectrum told me all I had to do was go to an AT&T store and get a new SIM card. When I did that, the representative at AT&T said the phone was locked, and I needed to call Spectrum to unlock it. After waiting for about 45 minutes, a manager told me there was nothing he could do because the system locks you in for 60 days, which no one had told me. He did refund me for the 2nd month which I appreciated, but the fact that I cannot do Uber and make money because of this service is extremely frustrating. Again, avoid this service like this plague. They’re good for TV and internet, but please avoid their phone service.

Dealing with Charter Mobile has been a nightmare for me and I am extremely disappointed

No APN mods; 5g won't work

Got a Samsung 21 ultra, now anytime it goes into 5g there's no service. LTE has service. There's no option to change the APN, or stay off of 5g. They can't just easily fix it, gotta go into a store or wait on a phone call. [Other providers allow you to modify APN, Just not spectrum]

Worst customer service!

I never even succeeded at activating my phone. I wanted on the phone for 46 minutes before giving up. Could not help by online chat. Tried calling again with another long wait with no service. Finally used chat to cancel and refund . They sure charged me fast enough before activation was complete but I've yet to receive a refund 5 days later.

I have Paid off phone and can't unlock

No phone insurance in NY. When I tried to change carriers, the new phone i purchased is locked for 60 days. So I can't switch without buying new phone. DO SWITCH SPECTRUM MOBILE. !!

There are so many dead spots...and the phone sucks

I can't believe how many dead spots there are...In the middle of Jacksonville Fl. No network, no service bars.....Grave yard DEAD...And this phone they sold me...won't run two programs at once ..keeps turning one of them off..and at home...try to watch TV on the phone or the computer...and it says connect to home spectrum internet....AT HOME... unbelievable

I regret ever having switched, you might too

They're a cable company masquerading as a cell phone company. I wish I could give them 0 stars! They lure you in with "competitive" pricing then punish you for being a loyal customer and porting my phones over was a NIGHTMARE!! They screwed up the sim cards they gave me and I ended up having to spend hours in a store with a representative who was as frustrated as I was at the process involved in getting my phones activated. I ended up having to buy 2 new phones - wasn't planning on that! But wait - there's more! I signed up for their $45/month unlimited plan with the $14/G per line for my kids. Thought it would save me money. Boy was I wrong. Those gigs add up quick! Barely a week after I joined Spectrum mobile to "save money" they offered a new promo - $29.99 unlimited. So I call them up to switch my lines to that deal. I'm still a "new customer", right? Talked to 3 different people, got 3 different answers. Ended up finally going to the store where the rep there called corporate to inquire and was told nope - only applies to new customers or adding new lines to the account. He was as exasperated as I was! Really? You're going to do that to me after being a customer for barely a month? Goodbye! But wait - it gets worse! I decided to switch back to my previous premium carrier whose network is the one Spectrum mobile uses. Figured that should be fairly seamless, right? Wrong!! The nightmare of switching TO Spectrum didn't even compare to the nightmare I went through switching FROM Spectrum. Long story short - went 2 days with NO PHONE SERVICE with 2 visits to the store having to use their phones because I couldn't use my own phone to make phone calls to resolve the issue because the porting process was screwed up. NEVER EVER AGAIN will I trust a cable company masquerading as a wireless provider with my wireless phone service!! Don't you either!

Same service as Verizon uses their towers.

Cell service is the same as Verizon since they use their towers. They do not subsidize phones like Verizon or have any discount phone deals. Their unlimited plans are about average price. $75 for two lines unlimited and brought my own unlocked phones. A week later they had a special for $29.99 a line and would not let us move to it. Spectrum only caters to getting new users. Same as their cable/internet services. No bundles for existing cable/internet/landline customers. No extras either (Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Sirius radio,etc), like Verizon Sprint AT&T and T-Mobile provide. They do not care if you are a long term customer at all. Spectrum needs more local offices and seems like they are new to the cell service game, more of a Verizon lease than a new startup.

I have Spectrum Mobile for my whole family

I have Spectrum Mobile for my whole family. We love it. We get Verizon’s network without Verizon’s nonsenses or price tag. Very competent tech support people too.

No prorate on service canceled.

I cancelled my service 4 days into the billing period and have to pay for the whole month. Rip-Off.

They have horrible customer service

I'm a service member and I needed to switch from spectrum to Verizon for a better deal, coverage, and true unlimited 5g. What they did was lock me out of my phone and deleted my phone number completely, and said it would take two days. If you're in the service and on leave you know that you need a phone incase they call and tell you to get back, so do not go through them they will screw you.

Spectrum is back to the old ways of Charter.

They tell you a lie and then try their damnedest to convince you it’s the truth. I have been with Spectrum since they became Spectrum. For my loyalty I get to pay 50% more for the same service as a new customer. They freely advertise two or more lines $ 29.99. What they don’t tell you when you add your new lines is that when you get your bill you’ll have a big surprise. Any lines that you already have with them do not get the new discount rate !! In other words your loyalty as a customer means absolutely nothing to them. And to that I say screw Spectrum !!!! There are plenty of other service providers out there. I will take all of my services elsewhere !!

Don't live up to there word!!!

I was told if I up grade my data it would be better I went over $70 was told if I pay $31.00 the rest of the over charge would go away ! Well it didn't they took my money and I still owe $89.00 and wouldn't give me a refund or credit my bill!!!! That's some Bull!!!¡
