Is Spectrum Mobile phone service any good?

Price

We were able to bring over our existing phones. We had a minor problem setting up an iPhone, but were able to fix it with a phone call to Spectrum. The service is good, and we are paying less than half of what we paid for Verizon mobile.

Customer support...extremely long waits

I've been trying to drop Spec. Mob. for over 3 weeks now. I purchased a phone from them and am dropping Spectrum as my carrier. I keep getting a run around from them. I paid off the phone and cannot get them to unlock it so it can be used. They have some program called AutoPay and it stores some of the costs which you cannot pay off until they say so. DO NOT apply for Spectrum Mobile! I was told that my phone would be unlocked on 2-21-2020. I called the number shown online for them and was sent to the wrong department. (long wait) They forwarded me to another department..another long wait.. This was the wrong department again....and another forward. At this time I've been on the phone with them for over an hour. Finally, the right department!. I was told everything was now paid off, which was supposed to have been done 3 weeks ago. Now they have an excuse that the department I need is down and the would place a ticket so they could do the unlock at their convenience!! It looks like it will be next week and then I have my doubts as to what is happening. My final comment is "SPECTRUM SUCKS"

The service and customer service

My first call after activating my Spectrum Mobile Service was to their Customer Service Dept. to issue a complaint about the rude and unprofessional behavior of the Service Representative who activated my service. Alberto, an agent at the 125th St Spectrum store in Harlem was so rude that I actually volunteered to return to the store on another date. He said, " No, I got this." If so; then why the rude behavior. Alberto didn't have a name tag that was visible and when his co-worker asked him where the missing nametag was he said, " What name tag? I have the one on my neck. I ain't get another one." Alberto actually excused himself to go help a colleague and another client. After 27 minutes of waiting for him to return to me I asked, "Excuse me how much longer is this going to take?" Alberto's response, "My bad forgot you were there, sorry." Yeah, he sure was and so is Spectrum's customer service. A nice lady named Savannah took my customer service complaint and assured me that I'd be hearing from the manager. I waited 24 hours and returned to the store. The Manager wasn't there. Sable the Floor Manager was polite and apologized and said her manager would be reaching out to me. That was 9 days ago. I still haven't heard from the manager or anyone else. My 2nd call on my Spectrum mobile service dropped 3 times. If you're on there Verizon network; why are your calls dropping in Manhattan< NY. I could see Manhattan, KS. Do yourself a favor, do not switch to Spectrum Mobile. It's bargain-basement service for a bargain-basement price.

Customer service and resolutions

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I have been trying to get my (sent to be) broken phone replaced for MONTHS now! I've spent HOURS on the phone with them and not only do they "not carry my phone anymore" (Note 9) which I was just informed today... but now I have to go through samsung and they are telling me I have to send it in for 7-10 business days to have it "evaluated" so they can decide if they can fix it or not... NO!! THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS!! I bought this through Spectrum, they should be fixing it!! Not sending me to other companies with NO assistance!! My phone is so broken, I had to suspend my line because it's not usable... It's been nothing but hell from day one with these people! Dont do it!!

Customer Service

My les than technically-gifted mom was basically whipped helplessly back and forth with this company. Sent us SIM cards to switch over from Verizon at home. Turns out the phones weren’t in out “inventory” so we waited a few days to get those added. Then we had orders canceled multiple times. Finally got told to go in store to get things fixed. In store associate didn’t greet us as we walked in and ended up on the phone with 5 other people himself while basically looking helpless and not having any idea how to fix our problem. I also heard another customer ask some questions and a different associate told them that it was policy just to call in for support on that. They left very upset too. Our family can echo all these terrible reviews. This is a MESS. Find another company.

bring your own phone is a big lie

they find a problem with your phone...manufacturer - age - anything to say you have to but theirs.

I was cheated

First the sent me a phone I did not order. When I sent it back they charged me a restocking fee. Then they told me my Sons Samsung S8 could not be used. But online they said it was acceptable. Finally a VP had to sign off on using the Samsung S8. I finally called and canceled everything. Now I'm keeping an eye open for false recurring charges...

everything

As I’m using this right now I have no service they say they use Verizon towers but I doubt that if you use Wi-Fi and don’t turn off your cell data then it uses your data and you get very slow dead Internet even when I have data my Internet is slow quite often I’ll look at my phone and it will say no service I have to restart my phone for it to work it is horrible never ever change to the service horrible service

Does not work while traveling on the interstate.

Completely lost service while on a major interstate. Have to get off interstate for it to work. It is by far the worst cell service I've ever had. Plan to go back to Cricket

Phone tech service very rude liars

I received phone 2/3/2020 shipped fedx, noticed phone charged at 65%,I was excited so I went through and activated it than plugged into charger that came with phone.Noticed it was not charging,I found two extra cords that are the same and still phone not charging,it's now at 60%.I call spectrum tech and let them know phone is plugged in but battery is going dead as we speak.Suddenly complete rudeness telling me I will pay $50 restocking fee and if I leave anything on phone I pay for phone. I told the guy I now have 25% left on battery,I need return label,he said they would send one to email.I said phone is dying and I don't have printer and soon won't have a phone.Send return label ASAP and I refuse to pay a single thing for a phone that came defective.I was told phone to be returned by 2/14/20. Phone totally died. I got Verizon back hours later. Constantly called spectrum for return label, each time I was told it would come email.I went to spectrum store and they can't take mobile phones but called and spectrum mobile was to email a fedx return label.Twice that day called and twice was told it would be emailed.I still have phone,I have filed a complaint with Attorney General.I am not going to pay for a phone with a defected battery! First time in my 60 year life dealing with spectrum as I have had Verizon and dish network for 30 years,I moved and wanted to try spectrum.Cable and internet I'm loving and a great price.Phone OMG,added more stress that I certainly didn't need.Phone still perfectly in box and I'm NOT paying for it!

Price

Spectrum mobile is a TOTAL RIPOFF! Most carriers are $25 per line, but with Spectrum mobile you pay $20 MORE

Everything from what I've read however i nev

I never made it beyond customer service with an attempted return. Purchase was almoat strongarmed with rep's insostance i try the phone and service and would have 15 days to return it. He glossef over 14.fays begind at date of ship, which in my case was 4 days beyond that which i was told to expect it. Return was refused and now am still disputing the charge 2 mos later, canceled credit card to avoid further charges which disnt work and now dealing w that as well. Worst ever!

Best service/Best price

I see so many bad reviews but if you read the print it’s says everything people are complaining about. Anyway customer service has been great. The price is awesome service is wonderful!! We were Verizon customers for at least 10 years so happy we switched to spectrum.

Everything. Avoid at all cost.

Spectrum CS and their mobile app are complete nightmares. Avoid at all cost unless you like being completely frustrated and ripped off. Just please for your sake do not switch to them because of their 14 a month charge a month which it is enticing but you will soon find out even if it was free its not worth all the frustration and headaches you will soon go though.

Everything!

I should have just stayed with cricket! After the 20gb are over, speeds reduce drastically. DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE!! I regret moving from cricket. I will finish paying off phones and go back! Never again with this company!

Adding a line online with a Spanish interpretor

I order a second device and was added to the wrong account! I received an email confirmation that it was on my account, then a few days alter I received a second email, when it was going to be shipped out and notice the address on account was incorrect. I reached out to Spectrum to clarify this and the representative change information to my address. I received the device. A few weeks later a received notification and notice that the bill was hire then normal. I called to clarify this bill and came to find out they are sending me someone's else bill and the new line that I had recently added was on their account. I went down to the spectrum office to get assistance on how to change it to my account and they told me that the mobile service is only through the phone... This pissed me right off. We wanted to do the right thing and get that line transfer to my actual account and to let them know that they are sending me someone else information. Also my card number was added to that person account. Fraud! I had to cancel the card because I had set-up automatic withdrawal and they where getting ready to charge me for their account and my own account. To my surprise it is a neighbor of mine that has the same first and last name as me but lives on a different apartment in my building. Spectrum told me several times after being on the phone with them several time(they said they will call me back and never did), either I have to buy the phone out but still cannot transfer it. ???? like what ??? Ridiculous, now my neighbor has this phone on her account and has to deal with this matter. Absolutely unacceptable. Due to their policies? All set with them. Bye, Bye Spectrum.

BEWARE OF $50 RESTOCKING FEE!

Ordered a phone and found that the service didn't work inside of my house. Was told that I had 14 days to return for a refund. THEY WANTED A $50 RESTOCKING FEE! They didn't tell me that when I signed up for the service. They have a special number for returns where they try to get you to agree to all sorts of "terms and conditions" before they will process a return. Will not allow returns of on-line orders to Spectrum Wireless stores. Total fraud. They will try and screw you every way they can. BEWARE!

They are dishonest. Do not trust them.

I am posting a very long story about a conflict that I am in with Spectrum Mobile. For those of you who do not live in Los Angeles, Spectrum is a Comcast/Charter Communications Company that services the area with cable.internet.home phone and mobile phone. They are the largest service provider in the area, the most reasonably priced and the most reliable. This story is so long that I am going to post it over several days. Here goes... 1000 Reasons Why Not To Use Spectrum. Last Thursday morning, I got a text from Chase fraud department asking me if I had authorized at $350 charge on my debit card. Text YES or NO. I responded NO, because I had not authorized any use of my debit card for that amount. Chase advised me to contact them between 8am and 10pm to find out who the charge was from and they blocked my card and told me they would issue another in 7 to 10 working days. I called Chase around 3pm and they told me it was Spectrum. Spectrum? I did not owe Spectrum any money. My cable/internet bill was $135 and my mobile bill was $56. Both were due on the 28th of January and it was only the 22nd. I called both departments at Spectrum to find out what was happening, and everyone agreed that I did not owe them any money until the 28th. The next morning, I woke up to an email from Spectrum, saying that if I did not give them a valid credit card by the 23rd that they were going to restrict my service. The email did not say what the charge was for or an amount due. Just a demand for a valid credit card. Who in their right mind would respond to this email with a credit card? No one. Well it was the morning of the 23rd, so I got on the phone and called Spectrum immediately. When I got customer service, they refused to speak to me because they said that I was not an authorized user on the account. What? I have been a customer for over 14 years and I have always been on the account, which was originally opened by myself and my ex. “Well you are not on the account anymore, so we can’t speak to you.” They spoke to me the day before. They had been speaking to me for the last 12 years, and there have never been any problems. After being on the phone for 3 hours, I found out what had happened to me being on the account. Apparently Spectrum has implemented a rule that two people can no longer be responsible for an account, so they removed all of the second names and only the first name is the account holder. Not sure when this rule had been put in effect. Maybe the day before, or the last evening. And this was done without notifying any of the first or second account holders. I informed the poor customer service rep that I had been speaking to them for years. I have moved, ordered equipment and changed service all without any problems. I also informed them that I had spoken to them the day before and had not had a problem. I also told them that the bill was current and all I wanted to know was, was it them asking for a valid credit card and why were they threatening to turn off my phone since the bill was not even due. Was this fraud? If not what was the charge for? I spoke to core billing. I spoke to tech support. I spoke to supervisors, supervisors. They refused any information and informed me that I had to go to the Spectrum store and have the responsibility changed to my name before they could even speak to me. 20 minutes later, my phone was turned off and I had no earthy understanding of why? This at least let me know that it was Spectrum and not a hoax. It only get's worse from here.

I never got a pin # or account # and when I called

To receive my pin # and account # the gave me the wrong numbers

Price & Service

We had been with Sprint for years (16 years). Service was poor and flawed, but for a family of 6 phones it was the most reasonable. We had an incredible plan that we were able to stay with for nearly 5 years, but we had to replace a phone and when we went to add it they said that we had to switch to a better, more current plan. It was going to increase our monthly fees by 50%. So bad service/coverage and more $$$ - no thanks. Around that time, Spectrum was rolling out their mobile service. We were able to add 5 lines to it (the limit) and I floated on mine for a few months until I could add my phone to a business account. Now all 6 phones for as little as $84 per month. We usually exceed our 1 gig per user and end up closer to $112-$126 per month - FOR 6 PHONES! Coverage and service kicks Sprint's ass. I have no idea where all of these bad reviews come from, but I wouldn't trade my experience for the world. Highly recommend.
