Is Spectrum Mobile phone service any good?

TOLD ME TO RETURN A DEFECTIVE PHONE AND IS CHARGING $35 RESTOCK

Not customer service friendly

You will not save money with this company .... After receiving my new galaxy S8 phone I realized it was way smaller than expected. So I called in and asked if I could exchange it with the Galaxy S8+ ... I was advised that I could but I would be charged $35 ... not a terrible price so I said okay... I was advised by their customer service department that I should use the new phone until the S8+ arrived so like an idiot I did... the phone came I packed up the old phone and put it in the mail box. The mail carrier didnt pick it up. So the next day i put it out again. Still didnt pick it up 2 days later I got ahold of fed ex and they took the device... I got an email saying they received the device.. a few days later I check the app and found out they had charged my bank account an additional $60 for shipping without even telling me ... a few weeks went by I called in to make a payment and was advised that my service had been suspended and my account was frozen due to non payment. I asked what they ment and they had advised me that my phone was damaged and I was to pay $650 I asked for them to investigate and also wanted them to take pictures of the damage... I also explained that I forgot to send the cord so maybe it was because of that, either way i needed to get to the bottom of it so i could make a payment plus if it was the cord $ 650 would be an obscene amount to pay for a replacement cord. The person on the phone said he would request the pictures I had asked for and investigate the situation and said someone would call me back within 24 to 72 hours. After 38 hours I got impatient and called in hoping to hear some good news. GOOD NEWS I did not get. I was told by the support person that I needed to pay the money. I explained the situation again and got no where. Then finally I asked for a manager. After about 15 to 20 minutes I finally was able to speak with a manager. I explained the issue once more mind you at this point I was still waiting to hear from warehouse about Said damages or issues with the device. So I explained the situation and she was extremely rude at first. Stating that it had not been 72 hours and there was no way they could speed up the process, and typically they dont rate the phone a C unless there is damage to the phone, even though when I first started talking with her she stated that if everything that came with the phone didnt come back with the phone the warehouse could grade the device a low grade.. So after another 15 minutes of talking with her I finally thought I was starting to get somewhere. I asked her to check again to see if she could get any other input to see if this issue could be addressed. She checked and put me on hold then came back and said that she did some more digging and I assume called the warehouse and asked why they gave me a bad rating and are charging me ... so he came back on the line and then told me it was all a big understanding and there was actually no damage to the phone and she was severely sorry about the mistake communication and the reason they had charged me is because I was 3 days past due for the allotted 20 days to return the device... then turned around and told me pretty much there wasn't any they could do and that I'd have to pay the full price of the phone. So now we were back at square one again. She accepted responsibility and apologized for the continued mission information I had been getting from the floor reps and said that information could have been collected by any of them but for some reason it wasn't... so finaly we ended the conversation and that was that... I tried to call once more to hopefully speak with someone who could possibly know what they were doing and assist my situation in a professional manner and again was on the phone for another 35 to 45 mins with no results. Now take into consideration that I have these people telling me I owe $650 for this "damaged(or)late" and continue to to forcibly tell me to just blindly pay them the $650 without any proof...they refused to send me a paper copy of my bill and stated the charges were in the mobile app but couldn't tell me where... I dug around on the app for almost 25-30 minutes with no results again. Could not find anywhere that states I owe $650 for the phone. Finally I told them if they were going to charge me for the phone that I wanted my property I was paying for. Now again i am waiting for an answer from someone and my bill is still due, now late, and also racking up late charges. WHY? because I apparently am not a priority... And now today I got a call a week after I had originally called to make a payment from the original guy that had got me started in the right direction which I will give him credit for doing his job and at least trying, but he called and said the warehouse had sent in the photos as I requested and there was a scratch on the phone and that's the reason why they had rated it a C and that's the reason I was being charged... which directly contradicts what the manager had explained to me 2 days ago... I once again requested my property back since I was paying full price for the phone... and now I wait again still not being able to use my phone or make a payment costing me more money because I do not have the $950 today to be able to move my account forward and continue using my service. This has become a very inexcusable and very costly situation in which there is apparently no way of fixing yet any other cell phone company would probably seek a resolution to fix this terrible mistake. I understand the phone was scratched but I was highly advised to use it temporarily which created an entrapment, and apparently legally fraudlant nightmare with no escape... that being said I hope people read this and head my warning when I say do not listen to them if they tell you to use your phone while your replacement is on its way... especially if you have a family and need the extra money to support your kids and not some big corporations vicious shark mentally to line the pockets of dirty rich people who could care less about the well being of humanity as long as it makes them filthy rich and keeps us broke. Which is why when you accept the terms of this company you no longer have the right to do what's right and take them to legal action because when you sign with spectrum you are now in a lawless land in which they can take you for every penny they want without any justification or remorse... just watch your ass when dealing with this company and I wish you the best.

Customer service

I placed an order by phone for an iPhone Xs Max. They sent the iPhone Xr instead. I called to have the phone exchanged and two weeks went by and their return department is still deliberating my exchange, however, they charged me the sales tax, surcharges and the first month's service fee for BOTH phones, and I don't even have any. I called several times during the past week and each person I spoke to would tell me different policy rules and would have little to add, or they'd tell me that they were going to process a cancellation or refund, and then I never get an email notification reflecting that, and they have sinced charged my debit card over $300! I am frustrated and going broke!

service is horrible

When they offered me the deal to switch, I told them they didn't have coverage in the town I work in. The man said he zoomed in to the town and it had perfect coverage there. I activated services and was then stranded in a town with zero means of communication for 3 days. It took almost 2 weeks to get someone on the phone to disconnect services. There a lot of dead zones even in the 4g areas.

Cost

They will hose you on data usage. Don't believe their pricing. You will use a lot of data even if you don't believe you will or haven't in the past. Don't don't don't switch to them! You will regret it!

Price

Signed on in Dec. Got the 14 per gig plan and a phone that ran 25 a month. First bill was 39.85. Great call quality and i-net. Only complaint is that their spectrum mobile site is constantly down. Every time I attempt to log on I get the "our site is temporarily down". Been that way for a month.

Will not let you bring compatable CDMA phone

They sell your number, expect 30 calls a month

Please don't choose spectrum! I got a new cell thru them excited too. But I got a new number and they must sell their numbers. I get over 30 B.S. calls a month.. sucks.

scam can't get my refund

i cancelled within 3 days and sent back the phone I never used or even charged I have had to call over and over to find out where my refund was. 1st they inform me that the phone was damaged and I would not get my money 2nd I spoke with a manager I insisted I did not use the ph I only looked at it and she said in 10-15 days I would receive my money. 3rd Called my bank funds not there 4th called spectrum again still shows not refunded and again the person put it thru again should of been in my account by 1/2/19 still not refunded FYI anytime a refund is due the company has 10 business days to refund the money. Message of the day be careful as they do not and never did advise me of a restocking fee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LTE/4g/3g coverage is nonexistent Lake Tahoe

I Can't use the Internet on my phone they have horrible data coverage in the Lake Tahoe and surrounding cities

Problems not resolved 5 wks later.

First phone they sent, battery wouldn't charge. 2nd phone will not connect to internet and still not resolved after hrs on phone with Spectrum and Apple. And cannot cancel because they haven't found the phone I returned 4 wks ago...lost in the warehouse by their own admission. If I cancel now, I'm liable for both phones! No contract but you are liable for phone you get whether it works or not.

I have NO phone service for 3 days now...

Started the switch from Verizon on Dec 13. Seemingly, all went well with the back-up, etc. I was keeping my phone number which I've had for 45 years. They ‘did' the portage thing, but as of now I have NO phone service ~ 3 days now!!! They say it's a faulty SIM card. They promised expidited delivery with FedEx, but STILL, not here...

Cell phone service equal to Verizon service

Was surprise to find I couldn't use my Verizon Samsung phone and charged unlimited data plan of $45.00 the first month even though I signed up for 1gig plan.

Nationwide Wifi

Rates aren't very competitive but nationwide wifi is a plus

Cheaper

Spectrum mobile is so much cheaper. I'm tired of paying verizon prices and spectrum mobile provides my family with what they need at an affordable cost

Incompatbility with BYOP

Spectrum won't let me bring my phone to them even though it's compatible with Verizon.
